    One of these could actually solve my age old catch-22 of being able to afford either a PSU that can handle SLI or a second graphics card, but never both!

    Go for the PSU any day, especially if you've already got a good graphics card. If it's a good PSU it'll last you years. Graphics cards will always need updating sooner or later so you'll win out long term - i.e. you won't need to worry about the choice, you can just go for the card.
