Not bad for a first stab at the market, but many areas for improvement.

We'll see what happens for the 2nd Gen iPhone in H2 next year...

In the meantime they've done what they set out to do, they've shaken up the market and forced the other manufacturers to raise their game, which hopefully means we won't see as many frankly shoddy phones being released to market before they're ready (Nokia, Sony-Ericsson, LG, and Motorola are all very guilty of doing that in the past).

Re: Apple iPhone comes to UK today

I popped into O2 in cambridge yesterday whilst the missus was in yet-another-shoe-shop and had a look. I've already seen the new ipod so i knew what the interface would be like but it was interesting to play with. There were six on a demo stand and in general people would play with them for a couple of mins and then move on - i'm pretty sure they weren't converting people into sales as the desks were pretty empty.

As i've said - i love the interface - but texting.. oh deary me.. The missus returned and gave it a go - she liked the bling interface but when i showed her the text input she was (also) less than impressed. They've done a good job with what they had (touch screen) but sorry a t9 keypad or a slide out keyboard impressed both of us much more. Anyone notice it's almost impossible to fill out web forms with the keyboard on screen? Mrs DAngel also said it was "too big".

Mine also crashed on me (I wasn't even trying)
