Do you go 4870 or wait to grab a 280 when the price tumbles to £230??

I have now placed and cancelled my 4870 order 5 times. Going to try and ride this one out.

Normally this would be a fantastic piece of info and useful news to link around the web, saw the link on VRZone, but when you read this massive pole was of 86 people it not only negates the news, as 20 people switching votes would drastically change the numbers, it makes it kind of silly news to be spread around the web.

Thing is the numbers probably wouldn't be too different if it was a poll with 20000 votes, but you can't just assume that based on such a small number of voters. Even several hundred would be a far far stronger case than 86. A poll that maybe should have been pimped a little more on forums, linked on various news sites and a quick article knocked up when the numbers were far far higher would have given it more weight.

I would and am personally going for the 4870, it's such a card for the price - Go AMD

Re: Question of the week: what will be your next graphics card?

I'll be waiting for whoever does best in the next round: until I've got a higher res monitor nothing's really punishing my current 8800 Ultra except Crysis. I assume by the end of the year something else might be.

I'll be upgrading the rest of the system when Nehalem comes out, and probably start looking at a graphics upgrade shortly after that. So my answer to the poll would be "none of the above"...

Re: Question of the week: what will be your next graphics card?

Personally, I have my eye on a GTX 280 when the price drops...maybe an eVGA GTX 280 FTW Edition... ^_^

Then again, if these rumors of DirextX 11 coming sooner rather than later...I may wait, just in case these DX10 cards don't support it.

I think the 4870 X2 is going to be the way to go tbh, not wanting to upgrade until there's a decent little leap anyway.

Re: Question of the week: what will be your next graphics card?

Funny thing is I voted for a 280 but ended buying a 4870 and I couldn't be more pleased. Cracking card at a cracking price and overclocks like dream 880/1200

While its a poor benchmark now here's my 3d Mark 06 results

17,938 not too shabby for a sub £200 card.
