If they want to learn rhythm, why don't the parents get them to learn an actual musical instrument?
I agree with you that this may be a great way to learn rhythm, but I'm really growing tired of the Wii now. Wasn't long ago I was harping on that it was the way forward, but the dirge of crap that Ninty are pushing on us is unreal.
What's wrong with using saucepans?
I can't imagine why people would want to fork out for a console and extras just to play this rubbish and Nintendo actually seem proud of this crap. They keep harping on about their massive catalogue of titles (aren't those from other consoles?) but I'm still waiting for some worthy first and third party games developed for this platform.

here's one for 7.99
A Piano or a Sitar may be expensive, but a keyboard most definitely isn't.
Guitars can be had for £30 and other instruments for not much more!
As an aside, I wonder how much they were paid to do that on stage.

Yeah.... this may not have looked all that neat...... but anyone who watches this.... should look on Gametrailers for the drumkit demonstration from E3..... where the guy doesn't play along to some rythm to make it sound like the Super Mario Bros. theme.... but actually plays the drum segment of the opening to Metallica's Enter Sandman.... no background music.... no specific notes to hit scrolling on the screen..... nothing.
If you ask me.... this game would probably be well worth it JUST to play the drums on it. seems rather neat.
I was disappointed this was the biggest game at this years E3 for Nintendo.
