    News - NVIDIA enters the race to ray tracing with GPU demo

    At SIGGRAPH 2008, NVIDIA demonstrates that the GPU is capable of ray-tracing, but it's still a technology for the future.

    Ray tracing is known to achieve near-perfect scaling with multiple cores, and this will clearly favour the many-core Larrabee architecture.
    Favour Larrabee over Intel's own cpus? Surely the 240/800 cores on GTX280/4870 are just asking for some highly-parallel ray-tracing action.
