Lee, what have you got your sights set on?

I'm after a new LCD myself, going to get one around Christmas time for the new apartment.

I still believe that Plasma screens offer the best picture, but having owned one, I found the paranoia of image retention to be too much of a headache.

At the mo, I'm leaning toward Samsung's 9 Series - the LED backlit ones. Awaiting professional reviews, but they're looking very good. Though, there's also the new Kuro LCDs from Pioneer to consider.

Games look great on a decent large HDTV, although seeing the price of HD projectors gradually coming down I can't help but wonder what a 100" projector screen would be like!

Re: News - Poll: Do you use HDTV for gaming?

I couldnt imagine not using my PS3 on an HDTV. Ive got a Sony 32 D series jobbie and its great. Wife wanted the TV, so I convinced her it wasnt worth it without a bit of HD input to go with it and got my PS3 in the bargain. Wipes the floor with the 28 inch 7 stone tube monster that lurks in another room.

Cant wait for them to get good enough to become a proper replacement for my monitor. Prices are also getting better and better.

Re: News - Poll: Do you use HDTV for gaming?

I'm running a Infocus In76 702p projector. Picture quality is awesome, it as that or 40" lcd about a year ago, I haven't regretted it. It quite liberating to have no tv in the front room if you know what I mean.

Its sometimes a hinderance in FIFA as your eyes are focussed away from the player map at the bottom of the screen, but the big screen experience is worth any negatives. COD4 , wall size, approx 125" is just awesome. Keep any eye out on ebay for some bargains, INfocus actually put a few up there sometimes for a pretty price. Thats how I got mine.

If the Infocus 1080p drops to around £1200 in the next milenium, its mine

HD is worth the step up if you can afford it.

I bought my HDTV for gaming and connecting to my PC to watch media. HD is a must for people with a big sized screen.

Re: News - Poll: Do you use HDTV for gaming?

I bought a 42" Phillips Plasma HDTV. The picture is outstanding but I'm extremely dissapointed in the sound from it (at low volumes it just becomes muffled and you can't understand a word being said) - luckily I've also got a surround sound kit I bought previously (which also sounds a lot better at low volumes). Image burn-in is a big annoyance with it though, If I play a game with a minimap in the corner of the screen It'll leave an after image for a good while afterwards (which is also a problem when watching TV channels like Sky one with a logo in the corner of the screen).

    A) I use my HDTV for gaming on the 360.

I've seen a nice samsung in both 32" and 40" sizes and I've also seen a REALLY nice phillips ambilight display but I keep thinking that if I wait a while more I'll get more for my money and keep putting it off.

I fell asleep whilst watching a film on my PC connected to my plasma and burnt in the last frame of the movie for over 7HR's but I couldn't notice any burn when I turned the TV on later, I have a Panasonic TV and haven't had any problems with image burn, Has anyone with a plasma actually burnt in a permanent image?

Re: News - Poll: Do you use HDTV for gaming?

Sadly the HDTV has been burned in with the Eastenders episodes and the likes.
I can never get any time gaming on it, but my 22" monitor is a good substitute.
Even then, I cant max out the resolution with my antique 6800GT...

Same here. Got both my PS3 and 360 wired into a HD ready Plasma, and wouldn't have it any other way.

    Yep and I love it.

1080p on a 48" Philips LCD with an Xbox 360 and its HD DVD drive. Simply awesome. Everyone that I know that has seen it has said how amazing it looks

yes, Xbox 360 / HD-DVD Drive with a 32" LCD on the wall in the bedroom and a Wii in the living room on our 37" Tosh. I also have a full HD MediaPC in the living room for both HD-DVD and Blueray (and a bit of EVE online when I fancy a 37" monitor!)

Re: News - Poll: Do you use HDTV for gaming?

Nope (for console), still using an old school 20" CRT TV for the xbox and a 22" 1680x1050 for my PC.

I couldn't really care less, sure it would be nice to have something that isn't over half the size of the desk but other than that I don't mind. It makes a big difference in shooters, such as the BF:BC demo that I suffered through. But the gamepad sucks compared to the keyboard and mouse so I usually don't bother buying them, after using a razer diamondback on high sensitivity for 2 1/2 years I find it incredibly hard to get used to the sluggishness of a gamepad. The TV is not so bad for playing GTA or FIFA.
