Hmm.. netbook or this...?
I'm not liking this trend with Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft releasing loads of hardware upgrades over the course of a consoles shelf life. I thought Sony had the right idea with the ps1 and ps2 in releasing the console then towards the end release a slimed down version. It's becoming a very expensive hobby to be a gamer these days.
Do you mind them releasing different colours every few months as well then?
So you would rather Nintendo ended the DS's life and released a completely different non-compatible handheld instead?
I'm really glad they have released at least two iterations of the DS, there is no way I would have bought the original, far to large. The DS lite on the other hand is the perfect size.
There were rumours of an even slimmer version in the pipeline. Personally I would rather they upped the spec and kept the same rough size, any smaller is going to be hard to hold (thats what she said too *snigger*).
I might get it depending on how alive my current DS Lite is by the time it comes out, might trade it in against a new one
No I'd rather they didn't release a new model at all or a new console for at least 2 years instead of rehashing the same device with hardware changes. I would rather they concentrated on releasing games for it or working on the next gen handheld. We are going to get to the point where they hold off with hardware features so they can flog another model every 6 months at this rate.
of course releasing different colours is very different to hardware changes. Nintendo should of released the DS with better wireless like 802.11g and support for WPA encryption in the first place if this is going to be part of the updated DS which it probably will be. This was the biggest problem for me as I play online withmy DS and had to change my wireless settings from WPA to WEP which isn't very secure.
I can see a future when hardware companies release half a dozen different models per generation of console and I think thats bad as they will leave out features on purpose and then slowly release newer models a bit at a time with the newer hardware features.
