We should start stealing foreign words to label new products/items again, not doing the whole german thing of sticking two words together.
I didn't even realise USB 2 was called 'HighSpeed'.
What's wrong with just calling it USB 3? Surely people are smart enough to work out that 3 is faster than 2... and eventually everything will be USB 3 instead of 2, just like 2 has replaced 1.
Thats one hell of an assumption!
USB1.1 had this problem when USB2 was released. People didn't want USB1.1 devices, even though making them USB2 wouldn't have had any benefit at all (mice and keyboards for example). So they officially renamed everything USB2 and then gave them names like FullSpeed and HighSpeed. this is supposed to tell you that there isn't any functional difference (which there isn't between 1.1 and 2) just a speed increase.
USB3 is slightly different as different cables are required (although backwards compatability remains), there is a new connector and there are also new features over and above the speed bump, like the power requirements.
But if they don't call it something like that, people will stop buying those old undesirable USB2 mice and webcams
