The A05B and A06B have had this layout for a while already. I've got an A06B; looks nice, but it's a bit rattly even with all the panels fitted properly, and the airflow is rubbish. My 8800GTS doesn't help either, it refuses to speed the fan up until it's near melting point meaning the case is always toasty.

You also find that HDD temps get quite high because rather than having cool air brought in from the front over the HDDs, it's warm exhaust air that flows over them. It's possible (albeit not too easy) to reverse the fans to get a 'normal' air flow direction, but it's flawed too because the PSU will exhuast air to the front, which would then get sucked in by the front fan. You're screwed either way, really.

There are vents in the case directly below where the PSU sits so that it can suck air in from underneath, but that's only useful if it's on a hard surface. Sit it on a carpet like mine is and there's not going to be much air under there in the first place.

On the plus side, stick it under your desk and it'll keep your toes toasty

Re: News - Lian Li introduces back-to-front PC-A05N mid-tower chassis

I have a A05 (bought off the forum) and TBH the airflow idea is absolute pap, It needs a Blowhole mod to vent the air from the gfxcard or you'd get a heat deadspot at the top of the case...

But.. With a large GFX card it practically makes the case into 2 separate compartments, and the airflow problem is mainly rectified, (apart from the GFX card/"Top Compartments" which needs to blow hole)

I'll try and get piccys of what i mean later

I have a PC-A05 (silver) as well, which I modded with 2x120mm fans on top. Originally, I used a slot blower, but found it noisy and not as effective. Did think about water-cooling at one point, but decided against it in the end.

Looking at the pictures, I can't see any differences between the 'N' version and the current 05's?

It seems they've improved a few things, adding a few bits to stop vibration and rattle.

Me thinks it would be good for a small Media PC in someone's bedroom or living room if short on space!?!

I agree the exhaust micro holes looks a bit restrictive ( bottle neck )
