Looks like they are not all that fussed about upgrades then! I am not too bothered as quite frankly the 3G does all I need it to anyways. Perhaps the real lack of 'killer' new features is why they have not made it easier to upgrade.
Not around too often!
Charging £15 a month to use your own or public internet access via a cable is retarded.... you can do that free via WiFi...
O2 sucks ass.
Edit: Im retarded, it is the otherway around, which makes more sense. Q.Q
This is all good.
I can include this data in the proposal to move away from Blackbery's at work, showing that an iPhone would be the most expensive option
O2 are gonna milk this for all they can get. I think it ludicrous that they aren't passing on the 50% price cut in the old iPhone 3G that the US are getting!

Based on the cost, the tethering feature isnt that great really especialy when you can get a 3G router you just stick your iPhone SIM into it, then browse the net through your iPhone for free....
Wow. So apples Jesus phone finally gets MMS? /me looks at his V3 Razor.
Nice they are now up to date.
As for tethering? Thats the phone companies screwing you. Its the last hurrah as they know in the end its all going to be data with VOIP being used for calls. Phone companies will become ISP's. (Granted this will take a few years but thats where it will end up.)
what a rip off. It's only a phone at the end of the day. I bought a HTC Magic instead and am happy with it and don't feel like I've been mugged by apple and O2.
Not really up to date. No flash on the phone and its only 3MP which while the software functionality mimics some compact cameras (touch to focus) the sensor and MP size isn't good enough. 5MP and a flash would see a lot better improvement, but then they have to hold something off for the 4th gen one don't they?
The editing features are neat though and the voice controls. I can't upgrade till next April on an 18th month N96 contract. Oh well, be time for the next one then! But for most of the functionality, yeah they have just about caught up.
Dont be a bunch of mugfarts...........you cannot possibly think that either a) apple forgot sh1te like mms or b) they could not implement it............can you? REALLY?
You dont think perhaps that this was like........some long winded strategy from Apple?
Really?
Did the fact that iphone had no mms/pish camera etc give it a poor start in any way at all?
Have you EVER consciously thought "my next phone must have advanced MMS capability as i like sending pictures of my knobzors to my mates"?
Come on......
Get with it....
This is all good tech stuff, good drip feeding strategy from apple.....
NASTY NASTY costs from o2 though.

Riiight.. so my contract with Orange is £19.87 a month for 400 minutes and unlimited texts plus 30 minutes video calls i think (never been sure about that one). And they want to charge me £30 a month PLUS the cost of the phone for 18 months?
No ta, i think if i wanted any of this i'd buy an iPod Touch and live without the GPS. I could even just BUY an iPhone and persuade it to work on Orange (but that's not to be discussed here!) - even a tenner's worth of data would be fine i think.
Conveniently i'm stuck with my phone until next summer, so plenty of time for something new and amazing to spring up.
What saddens me is that the Palm Pre, which actually looks like a really nice bit of kit, has also been bought out by O2
But i'm suprised people were expecting miracles to come out of WWDC. Remember that when the iPhone was released, it was a fairly revolutionary bit of kit, there wasn't really that much they could add to it. Yes, the camera was and still is pants, but it's a phone, unless you buy a fancy Sony with a Zeiss lens, most are crap. It has GPS, it has a browser and it has all the apps. Realistically what could they add? Most of it is just firmware/OS buffs.
oh dear, it took them 3 OS to get copy and paste working my god apple suck.
so they just discovered MMS most off us are on 3G now.
and tethering? surely for £14.95 its alot cheaper to get a old sony ericson phone, go on virgin PAYG and use that as a modem at 30p/day
i think apple / 02 havent thought this through very well
btw a awesome alternative to this is samsung OMNIA HD. its like the iphone but it works with all the features in it from the start, shame its exclusive to orange
Why is the iphone so expensive?
Answer- Cos its made by apple.
There is an upside to that though, they do hold their value well. The average Nokia or other generic touch screen phones plummet after a few months.
