worded a little weirdly, the £45 price was the price for a special "pre-order version" of Windows 7,

they ran out of their allotment, now you can only pre-order the "normal" version, at its normal price.

I go Pro from Amazon this morning... I wasn't sure that I really need the Pro edition, but I thought that the offer might end quickly and decided to buy now and, if required, can cancel later... but if Home Premium is now upto £80 then it's a no brainer!

Currys have HP for £45 with free P&P. Just got mine; no idea what the service will be like

The list of retailers are at http://www.microsoft.com/uk/windows/...pre-order.aspx.

So what's the deal with the limited stocks? I always thought it was just an incentive to get people pre-ordering but now retailers are raising prices as listed post-promo?

I've pre-ordered from Currys out of panic

shame that argos don't appear to be selling it as I've got £20 in gift vouchers for them, not sure why they aren't though as they are listed in the faq as a participating retailer

the demand for this actually beats out Vista in its pre-release stage, I seen deals for under 50 quid for the Home Premium edition!

Ordered pro version from amazon, saw how quick they were selling out, so ordered a copy of home from PC world too (for my Dad). All comments seem really positive so I've high hopes for Windows 7.

Re: News - The clock starts ticking on Windows 7 pre-order promotion

Theres loads of videos going around on the net and what ive seen its looking pretty sweet.
Also its meant to run and boot a lot quicker than XP which cant be bad. Also you dont need a shed load of RAM to run it like you do with Vista
