Good news imo. T-mobile has some cracking deals but I would not use them as the signal is terrible orange isnt that great either lets hope that together they can sort something out and rival vodafone and o2.

What I like about this announcement is that the companies are clearly stating how this will benefit the consumer, rather than pandering to their shareholders.

    Hang on...

Re: News - Orange UK to merge with T-Mobile UK

good for customers, not so great for staff (2 stores in 1 town, 1 is going to have to close)

should be good though from a tech and customer point of view

Although ofc, is this the entirety of orange or just the mobile division? what with the fact that orange bought wannadoo and so have their own isp...

Re: News - Orange UK to merge with T-Mobile UK

I adore T-mobile, they have fantastic customer service & a few good deals, but i do prefer several of Orange's mobile phone choices so in theory this could go well. All depends which aspects of the two companies get brought to the table!

My contract renews net month, so hopefully the timing of them merging will work well when i come up in 18months agai!

Re: News - Orange UK to merge with T-Mobile UK

The only good aspect of this, is that it will create the largest network in the UK by subscriber.

Hopefully that means they will have the ability to merge networks and expand their coverage and signal quality to match or beat Vodafone.

I do however suspect Orange to be the dominant part of this merger, which is bad news as far as packages and tarrifs are concerned, especially for data users like myself.

Yay, so now I only need to avoid 3 mobile operators instead of 4.

    3 FTW!

Re: News - Orange UK to merge with T-Mobile UK

Darn, looks like I need to change mobile carriers, I've always steered well clear of anything Orange-based because they've always seemed a sleazy and untrustworthy company.

Re: News - Orange UK to merge with T-Mobile UK

:-( T-Mobile are good, I have an O2 contract and T-Mobile PAYG. I would never touch Orange or 3 with a barge pole. The merger will put me off though. I wonder if the Orange Wednesdays will apply to T-Mobile customers though?

Maybe they could create T Tuesday.

Anyhow I think Orange and T-mobile merger is good, its the two naff companies merging into one naff company, less space on the high street wasted.
