Sounds great, if priced correctly i could easily see myself buying about 3 of these for media PCs.

But i do still feal bitter to zotac about the 9300itx i bought, which I 'assumed' would have wake from USB.......

Pretty sexy, but they could have added a bigger HDD.

Very nearly perfect for HTPC but I might use it as a mini-home server. Have a big NAS box for data and use this as a server for email and keeping user accounts in one place.

As an HTPC is fails immediately for me. No room for a TV tuner

You could always *gasp* not watch TV!

Surely a bigger fail as HTPC is the lack of an optical drive...

no it couldn't possibly be, someone in the thread mentioned optical drives.

Rotary optical storage so advanced you don't even have to press play on the tape deck.

(with apologies to the luddites.... well not really)

I'd rather a 30GB SSD in there personally.

Perfect for front end HTPCs. No direct storage, no tuner, just windows MediaPortal and a bunch of codecs. Perfect.

Just read the bit about no OS!! Awesome! I really hope the saving is noticeable, I don't need no stinking OS.

As long as it isn't a crappy SSD, I'd be ok with that. But given the price of decent SSDs, that would be unlikely to happen. I'd rather have one decently sized, reasonably perfomring HDD, than a tiny, crappy SSD.

crappy SSDs are in some ways great for Media PCs because they are silent.

If its playing music, the IO isn't high demand anyway, as most of the time its just streaming from the server.

^^ This. Silent, helps keep heat production low and uses less power.

All good things when you just want it to boot (or resume from standby) and stream from a server.
