For those who can't afford, or don't want, to cough up for a Kindle, Amazon is releasing a new Kindle app for PCs next month.

I think they might be shooting their own product in the foot here. One of the advantages of ebook readers is that their screens are easier on the eye for extended periods of reading than PC screens. This app effectively negates that advantage and associates the Kindle brand with an inherently inferior reading experience.
