Re: News - Thermaltake launches V3 Black Edition chassis

Looks like there is room for 2 x 120mm fans in top (rather than just the one as stated in the news item).

The case looks great value for the money.

Like the look of that. As long as its well put together and doesnt just fall appart its a nice looking cheap case for some of the people that want a "nice" case but dont want to pay 150quid for a Li Lain. (Thou they do do some seriously nice cases.)

This is half the price of a CM690 - Doesn't look as good but for £25 - £30 is got to be one of the best value cases ever.

And on a note about the CM690 - This was a good case but left lots of for improvement. I think the Lancool K62 has covered all the bases that the CM690 failed to get right. Call it a clone but its a clone done better....

Re: News - Thermaltake launches V3 Black Edition chassis

Nah the Xigmatek midguard is the cm690 clone
this is one of the new set of cheap cases with lower psu's, looks strangly the same as the Nzxt M59/Gamma/Lexa-S, Akasa Freedom xone, Casecom 6788

Main difference here is the more standard and not as nice hard drive bay, I much prefur a hard drive bay set at 90 degrees for easy access.

Re: News - Thermaltake launches V3 Black Edition chassis

Its variations of the same/similar layout that CM brought out some 2 years ago, you could say CM690 borrowed from the Antec 900 but there are enough improvements and differences to say it was a step up.

These days its just the same sort of thing, so where are going side ways in development, don't get me wrong I'm all for the improvement of current designs and low cost section, CM themselves are bring out a CM690 II in 2010, its just I feel like we're not going anywhere with case designs.

ps - agree with you Pob on the HDD orientation, facing side ways is far tidier and easier to access.

Oh and mustn't forget the SilverStone Precision PS02 to which this V3 case has an almost identical layout.

Personally this is a revolution in case design, it's such a simple change but allows for far more air outtake and is a solid basic design change in the right direction, what surprises me is that it's taken so long to filter down to lower cost case.

SilverStone Precision PS02 doesn't have any top vents does it?

Re: News - Thermaltake launches V3 Black Edition chassis

Looks okay, but is anyone else expecting a £=$ conversion over here?

Nice to see some rivals for the £30-40 CM cases.

Chaps, as Kalniel rightly mentions, the dollar-to-pound conversion isn't always straight forward.

However, we've been in touch with Thermaltake and we've had the following information:
    • UK stores should have good supply by mid-December
    • Street pricing is expected to be around £25

Keep an eye on Special Tech, they usually get Thermaltake stuff first and are usually the cheapest too.
