Great!!! by 2013 many companies might be using it!!! - mine still uses '03 (as a side note does anyone else think 07 is aload of rubbish everything is hidden under tabs which makes it less functional)
well at first I'd agree with you...I mean trying to get the 2007 ver of excel to do general stuff can be VERY frustrating. However, once 2007 grows on you...and you learn the short cuts...it becomes...well...usable. Perhaps the 2010 version would have the same UI as the 2007 one but with much more advanced features....I know there are some I would certainly pay for
We pushed 07 out over the xmas break, not many people liked it to start with, feck knows why they played with the layout I still prefer the look/feel of 03 but if its out there people will use it..
Its focus group mentality.
However I did have the privalidge of putting 2007 in front of some people who'd never used an office program before.
As I didn't put 2003 in front of them too its hard to make a comparison, but I will say most people found it very intuitive very quickly.
Myself I preferred it from almost the start, but I was quite a heavy user of the beta for 2007, much less so for 2010.
throw new ArgumentException (String, String, Exception)
I'm using the 2010 beta - albeit mainly Word - and I'm struggling to see what the big difference is. I think it's time I spoke to Microsoft about this.
Excel, outlook and onenote are the only ones I think will be any use to me.

In short, not much.
edit: Actually I could see simple reports finding this tool somewhat useful:

throw new ArgumentException (String, String, Exception)
How so? They've not removed any functionality, but they have simplified the work flow for some?
I wouldn't call the new in cell indicator graphs of excel a kids feature either, eye candyish, but given that I use excel for analysing data, anything that helps my eye gets my vote!
throw new ArgumentException (String, String, Exception)
I did try the 2010 beta a while back but it wouldnt work with the mobile device center and as thats one of the main things I use I uninstalled it..
I'm using the 2010 beta, looking forward to it going final.
I like the ribbon instead of the tool bars, I hate going back to 2003 or earlier, they just seem really clunky!
The beta has been pretty reliable for me, although I have had a couple of little issues with outlook.
Use 2007 90% of the time now, 2003 seems horribly clunky with the toolbars flying all over the place, deselecting and reselecting all the time just to get the buttons you want on the screen. Then with AD you move to another PC and don't get your configuration back and waste more time resetting it all again.
Another one of those updates I really appreciated - I had no idea it was needed, but now I've got it I would hate to let it go. I could put loads of Windows features into that bracket as well.
Sheesh. Yes, I really miss tiny obscure icons and the myriad of functionality embedded deep in menus..
I hated the old Word - the new one is far more intuitive and the real-time previews/context sensitive ribbon are such a huge step forward it's hard to see any credence to sticking with the old one aside from 'I'm used to it'. I sympathize with MS - they're damned if they don't do something new and damned by their 'embedded' users if they do. I face exactly the same problem every day - and no matter how much of a improvement it is you still get stuck with people who just can't move on. Even if the layout in the old version is utterly ridiculous, illogical and a product of horrific feature-creep.
