A chip that wasnt fit enough to go into a GTX480 repurposed into something else i care as little about. Bloody NVidia marketing.
its not like amd, intel and ati dont do it.. i dont see your point ?
Guessing its the GTX460. I really hope they get back to making really good bang for buck products, especially at a time where pc's need a bit of a revival. hopefully they won't be as loud and hot as there top models either.
if its the GTX460 then its a bit over the top imho, announcments like this probabily mean something relatively major,
-relaunch of 3d vision? Maybe
-2 beefy gtx470 on one PCB? Yep
My guess is the latter I mean just look at the size of that bloody case, I guess nvidia went all the way in trying to find a suitable sized cooler.
This *is* a big deal for nVidia - sales volume is far higher for non-top-end products and they need to show investors (see share price issues) that they've got something to compete in this segment. Because until now they've been blown away by AMDs top to bottom 5000 series.
Raising profile to the end consumer via countdowns like this is a little unusual in that it's the investors who really need to know, but if they can generate any additional buzz it'll go down well.
As cool as a new top end card would be, I just shelled out a fortune on an overclocked 480 which only just came into stock with a custom cooling solution to cope with the damn thing.
I'd be pretty miffed if there's already a new high end card that I could probably have grabbed for the same price.

for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

Lol, I've had too many bad issues with ATI drivers. As a programmer I can also say that this affects programming (I've actively ran into ATI bugs within half an hour) and that their overall support, documentation etc is crappy in comparison to nVidia.
I have a Zotac 480AMP! edition (£470), it's got a 56mhz preoverclock and runs VERY cool and quieter than any actively cooled mid/high range stock card (but will rev up like crazy if you mess with the fan settings so lots of room to further overclock). I think this was a good buy, it would be nice to see such a cooling solution on more cards, but it was costly.
Perhaps it's their new Quadro line? Now called the Geforce Pro =P It's about time these came out right?
Some kind of beastly TESLA gaming set up?
Well, we already knew that the GTX 460 was coming out, and right clicking on Aria's countdown brings up GTX460.gif Looks like thats all it is folks.
