Re: News - Sony PSN "Welcome Back" Program goes live

Having taken advantage of the depressed PS3 prices (40Gb Fat for a £100) I can safely say new accounts don't get the free games which is a shame as I have a collection to start!
    Trust

I picked up deadnation, not sure what else though, toss up between ratchet and clank and wipeout; both of which I don't own.

Store is definitely being weird though, as I tried to buy Outland twice and it keeps crashing out.

I believe playstation plus content is available for the duration of your free subscription (30 days) whereas the 2 free games are yours permanently. And to the previous poster - the offer is only eligible for those who held an account before April sometime (reason being that if you bought a PS3/made an account after the hack...you wouldn't be affected therefore not entitled).

well since a refurb 80GB is going for 135 on fleabay, i dont think it would be too much trouble to find a slightly battered 40 for about £100

Re: News - Sony PSN "Welcome Back" Program goes live

I picked up Dead Nation and Wipeout.

First impressions? Dead Nation is good fun, great way to kill time, and zombies. Haven't tried the co-op mode, but I get the feeling it'd be entertaining.

Wipeout's exactly how I remember it, but with a whole lot more shine. Couldn't get a grasp of the controls, though - it's weird going back to DualShock when you've become accustomed to the 360 pad.

I got Ratchet and Clank & Wipeout...

Wipeout is taking a bit of getting used to (I think I last played this on the SNES?) and I'm loving Ratchet & Clank

^ Closest thing to wipe-out on a SNES was F-Zero - you mean PlayStation I bet!

Re: News - Sony PSN "Welcome Back" Program goes live

I used to love F-Zero and especially Wipeout 2 on the PS...playing it again on the PS3 makes me a bit reaction times are no longer what they used to be! More gaming / training required.

I personally wouldn't touch the old fat PS3's as they are the least reliable of the bunch... YLOD will happen sooner or later (if the Blu-ray drive doesn't pack up first). I sold my old 60GB PS3 on ebay as 'spares or repairs' and still got over £100 for it! I now have a nice and quiet 320GB PS3 Slim, but it still gets quite warm compared to my Xbox 360.

Re: News - Sony PSN "Welcome Back" Program goes live

Two games released in 2008, two in 2009 and one in 2010. This is the best that can be offered!

And any news on the security package? Are they still gonna use Affinion? I am a bit worried about using them as the WOT add in for firefox red cards them, they have been hauled up in front of the US Senate for less than savoury business practices. CNet.

Have Sony said that they are going to encrypt users data yet? I know they've apologised etc but are they going to encrypt? After what's happened with psn and the sony movie sites I would hope they've realised that they should but I no longer trust Sony to do what is right.
