    ^^^ Beat me to it

eBuyer is listing them at £58 inc at the moment...

But, generally, it is a more expensive IC, and so it will cost a bit more. And we've had them up to 2133MHz at 1.55V in the lab too, for those want to choose (or switch) between LV and higher speeds.

i recently got the blue LP memory for a gigabyte 990xa-ud3, thinking of getting the white modules for colour coordination.

Yeah, I would think when they realise they are selling the whites cheaper than the blacks they will want to change that.

White with blue would look cool. You might need to do some manual tweaking though, as they are different ICs in each kit, and set the voltage to 1.5V, rather than 1.35V too. Though that does defeat the object of them being lower voltage I guess!

Blue with black looks great too.

Now that's tempting. Any possibility of a triple pack for those of us on x58?

Tough crowd in here today I know, so thanks for answering posts Blackbeard

I'd just like to add that I don't think the naming of these modules is fantastic either. I know where you're coming from, but these are the same height as 90% of 'normal' RAM out there. Even a lot of high performance stuff from other manufactures is the 'normal' profile these days. I think the 'low profile' tag is going to be misinterpreted by a lot of people and is a little confusing.

The term 'low profile' has generally been used for low profile RAM, which is different. I know it's only a naming term, but perhaps something like 'Mini / Micro / Whatever Vengeance' would be better to try to avoid industry term conflicts?

Re: News - Corsair intros 'Arctic White' low-profile Vengeance DDR3 memory

I take your point[s] about the name, but these are low profile Vengeance DIMMs, not intended to be confused with low profile blade server DIMMs etc. It was just meant to indicate reduced height, compared to the regular Vengeance.

Though if we get demand for XX thousand 1.2in Vengeance kits from IT managers, then I'm sure our engineering team would look at it... Vengeance Ultra Low Profile, perhaps

Constructive criticism in the main though really - I always buy corsair RAM (in the main) but spreaders have just got dafter (in practical terms) and hence why corsair has to (at all) release an 'LP' version (try getting Vengeance sticks under a scythe shruiken). I'm all for the bling but when you create a market for one product by making another so impractical.. Plus, (and again constructive) if you've ever pulled the sinks off* you'll find they make some pretty poor contact (and that's because they don't have to 'work').

I've got Vengeance sticks in my main rig and they look great in there (but there i've got no space problems). As for naming, this doesn't bother me at all.

It's hard to differentiate a stick of RAM for a marketing team and that's why this sort of stuff happens at all..

How about you sell the sticks with two sets of heaksinks - so the user can choose? If I wanted 1.35V RAM from you but with giant turbo ninja uber bling heatspreaders i'm stuffed right now!!!

    * obviously never actually done this cough cough

Or how about just selling sticks standalone, and sell a variety of optional easy fit/remove accessory spreaders for the bling factor.

It's very nice - as I say I've got nowt but man love for Corsair stuff (as evidenced) and I didn't mean to pick up on you specifically, rather just that other than the slightly weird naming debate (why care?) the rest is pretty pragmatic.

That'd do too - or even sell them with standard profile heatsinks which you can snap-on monster evil looking extensions to *ahem* improve cooling performance

    We have evidence

Seriously, why limit your customer's choices because of a heatspreader? It's (literally) put me in that position recently - I look at price and performance normally - height of heatspreader is just a daft third annoyance

    ^^ This.

To Corsair. The ridiculously tall heatspreaders on the Vengeance RAM was the reason you lost several sales from me. What annoyed me the most was that they served no purpose whatsoever other than to get in the way of massive heatsinks! As Dangel said, why cause issues for your customers when you don't need to? Was it to sell more H50s/H60s/H80s?
