We do try to offer as much choice as possible, and we have a huge number of memory SKUs. The Vengeance RAM with tall heatspreaders is very popular, so it's clear that lots of people do like them. But if you don't, then there's LP and XMS, and regular no-heatspreader RAM too.

The Vengeance heatsinks are for those who like the look, primarily, and want something more interesting and exciting than XMS or value memory.

    Just not at 1.35v.

I just think that people who don't want spreaders shouldn't be passed off as penny pinchers. As I've said before, one of the things I really like about the GeiL black dragons is that that they do classy, understated look really well with just the PCB, and deliver on thermal and I/O performance without superfluous attachments. And for any enthusiast, the more modular options they have, the better.

Just something the marketing bods could consider.

Really? I only bought them as they were cheap and available. I tried hard to find the ones without the stupid spreaders (the classic XMS3) but couldnt find DDR3-1600 with 1.5v models unless I bought 4 DIMMS or 1.65V models.

If I HAD had a choice I would have bought this product and not had to worry about clearance with heatsinks etc.

But if Corsair wants to offer an exchange programme......

The 1.5V and lower SKUs will trickle down over time, but generally the higher spec ICs get used on higher-end modules first.

The heatspreaders aren't the reason why Vengeance would cost more - it's because the kits use higher spec / binned ICs. Dominator / DHX+ does add extra cost though, because it's a heatsink, with a fair bit more metal.

But if you don't like the look of Vengeance (and many do) we have just added CMX8GX3M2B1600C9, which is a regular 2 x 4GB XMS3 1600MHz C9 kit, at 1.5V.

    Oh come on...

    1) Vengeance wasnt costing more when I bought but it was AVAILABLE
    2) You really think I am gonna buy another set of Ram just cos of the silly heatsinks Exchange me by all means.
