For me I use Amazon for boxed games, GOG for the classics as I have been replacing the disc versions of my old games with working digital copies and then everything else I use Steam.
I've not really bought games when they were released apart from with FFXIII and FFXIII-2 (which I learnt was a mistake). Not much time for gaming so I just wait till I see a good bargain.
Steam / Amazon for me.
Steam as first choice or if it's a bit expensive on Steam, order from wherever is cheapest online. I think I used Green Man Gaming once for something too.
Pretty much what Ferral said.
I do own 4 Humble Bundles and have contributed to 3 Kick Starter campaigns: Double Fine Adventure, Wasteland 2, The Banner Saga. Not really interested in the Andriod Humble Bundle that is currently being promoted and the last two Kick Starter campaigns I mentioned are still open if anyone would like to contribute.
The next few years could be very interesting if more DRM free/Pay What You Want/Fan Funded games become successful. I eagerly await the results of the Kick Starter campaigns I've backed and really hope Brian Fargo's idea, Kicking it Forward, catches on.
I think I've bought all my games in the last year either from ultimatum/cjs/g2play or from steam sales. The year before I only bought one in a store (asda) and that was black ops.

I get 80% of my games from amazon/play/shopto depending on price/how keen I am to get it next day etc. For everything else its steam sales. For the record 10 years ago it would have been 90%+ GAME/Gamestation.
Edit: I get a lot of preowned games from amazon market place/playtrade...
I just google for the cheapest, provided it's a store I trust or am willing to trust I'll buy it from there.
I'd also be willing to say that a handful of blockbusters is perhaps not a good thing, purchases are far less distributed across titles than they used to be, which limits the variety games on the market and makes it difficult for newcomers.
This really. SimplyGames is a good place to look IMO, they often have the cheapest prices for new games, usually only beaten by Amazon if anyone, but they ship 1st class RM from within the UK so normally next day delivery. I friend uses ShopTo but I've never seen them cheaper.
I'll also use Amazon if they're more than a few quid cheaper, because their delivery is poor and as for pre-ordering they can be pretty poor, often getting games to me over a week after release. However, I've found both their pricing and customer services to be good; they refunded the difference when a game dropped in price before its release date, even though they'd already shipped it. As for customer support, I've found them to be very fair and efficient.
I will also consider Play.com but only if substantially cheaper.
I buy quite a few sale games from Steam, but new games are usually very overpriced so I've bought maybe one or two games new, Trine 2 is all I can remember right now. I've picked up dozens of games super cheap in the sales though.
Others I've used recently include GoG, GamersGate, D2D (sadly turned into Gamefly with another game client).
It's not often I use the retail stores unless they have an offer on, a recent one being to trade in Dead Island + £1 at HMV for GoW3.
I usually just chose whoever is the cheapest and most of the time its good ole Amazon. They have the best service I've every used, in all my years of using them I think I've only had one game delivered a day late after release. Their pre-order promise is where I make the most savings with games.
I am mainly a PC gamer so I use Steam and Green Man Gaming too.
I generally buy wherever is cheapest. Recently I got crysis from game, but have bought a lot of titles from steam just for simplicity. I'm waiting for mass effect to come down in price a bit and I'll probably buy it from somewhere like amazon or another trusted online retailer. Really don't want to go anywhere near origin to buy anything. Oh and I occasionally get things through gfwl.
I buy my games USED on eBay.
My budget for a game is £10-15.
Of course, if NEW condition games drop in price to £15 or near like £18, I'll buy the new one. I alays finish off my games in a month and then sell them on eBay. Of course, I don't make a profit and instead make a £2/3 loss but hey, its not much of a loss.
I only buy PS3 / XBOX games. I DO NOT buy PC games as they can't be sold on due to activation limits, account limits, installation limits, CD key reusability, etc. Instead I download them off pirate sites. If such crap restrictions weren't in place , I would defo buy PC games as my HD6850 is just sitting around doing nothing now.
