Yep, It's dad material. He's been discovering the web recently and he'll love this. More so now he's discovered Skype.
Are you kidding? At this price, how can I resist?
No Siri, I'll stick with my iPad
I'm a PC, so I'll wait for a Surface
I'm not ill, why do you think I need a tablet?
I really like the look of Surface, and excited to see how good it is, but this looks like a steal to me. 8gb is fine for my needs for this size.
No memory card slot... no money from me.
Would have preferred the option of a bigger screen at least, too. 7'' seems too close to smartphone territory than tablet territory for my tastes.
Considering the amount of web surfing I do every day on my smartphone (3" screen), I don't think a 7" screen is too small, however I don't think I will be buying this tablet.
The main reason is that I already have a 10" tablet (An HP Touchpad I got in the fire sale), and it gets very little use beyond basic web surfing and playing angry birds. I find that for most thing I early need a keyboard I can touch type on, and the soft keyboard on a tablet just does not cut it. I tolerate the lack of a physical keyboard on my phone because it is so small, but I think I would rather buy a small net-book than a tablet without a keyboard.
Same size as my playbook.
It's a good size for casual browsing and it will soon have Chrome.
Won't be buying one of these (although mightily tempted - especially if I could find a use). I've already got a large screen smartphone, a "free" (it came with my printer) 7" non-Google tablet, and an Asus Transformer. So I'd suggest that when/if I get a Kindle (managed to resist so far) then that's all the possible uses for a 7" tablet covered by devices I already own.
The kids here got Touchpads (also in the fire sale) and I got them the HP bluetooth keyboard - maybe that would increase the use of the TP? Just a thought Of course you could always root it and put CyanogenMod 9 on it. http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/forum-5...d-2012-jun-26/
No. Not tempted at all.
First, max 16GB and no card slot. Really?
Second, cloud does NOT make up for that for me.
Third, poor connectivity.
Fourth, too small for me.
Fifth, and frankly this would be enough for me even without 1 to 4 .... it's Google. They've got far too much data about everybody already, and after so many privacy issues, I do not trust them an inch.
Personally, and I don't expect much agreement with this, I wouldn't use such a device from Google if it was the best hardware spec on the planet and they gave it to me free of charge, and I'm not prepared to even risk gifting them any more.
So no, I won't buy one .... or accept one as a gift.
Got to agree with the other comments an sd slot (of any variety) would make this an insta buy. Actually a 32gb version at 250 would make it a pretty easy sell but 16gb? i have more than that on my phone and for me this would be first and foremost a music device to replace my dying and somewhat redundant ipod touch. I tend to encode at 320kbs and want at least 10 gb of music on any device and that really doesn't leave alot of room to play with for apps not to mention if i wanted movies i would probably need an external drive of some type. All in all google great job on the form factor now just add a little more functionality.
I'm getting the TF700 instead, I like the larger higher res screen for book reading, the dock acts as a screen guard for transport and I can write emails on it without hating my life, and it has hdmi + sd connectivity which the Nexus 7 lacks.
Already pre-ordered one for my wife. I was going out on Thursday evening to buy her an Asus Transformer TF300T for 400 quid but saw this in the morning and ordered it straightaway.
The 7" tablet is better for her anyway. It'll fit in her bag better. We'd seen other tablets but the only one with the technical specs I was happy with was the Transformer.
She doesn't need an SD slot. Virtually everything she does will be via wifi at home. I'll install a DNLA client on it if there isn't one already so she can stream movies etc from my PC and if we're going away 16Gb is enough if I load the movies on as avis.
Best of all the price tag has saved me 200 quid that can go towards my PC upgrade.

Hmm. Tricky. I don't generally 'get' what tablets are all about. I just know I wouldn't use it as an everyday device when I have perfectly good PCs / laptops already. They supposedly support USB kb/mouse, so it might make a passable netbook replacement, but lack of SD card slot makes it less attractive as a media player. Without keyboard the only times I might use one is when travelling, basically to take a bunch of ripped TV shows for when on the plane. Also might be useful as a GPS, which my dying Orange San Francisco does.

Yes, I will be getting one.
As others have said, if it had a micro SD slot, I might have considered it. As it is, it serves little function.
As others have said before really i would have liked to have seen a 10" version and either a sd slot or a full size usb so I can plug thumb drives/ext hdd into it as the main use would be music and movies while travelling and internet on the sofa at home.
No, I just don't see myself having any use for a tablet as I am content with my PC.
No (Micro)SDHC, so no sale. Unless the battery is vastly superior to the P 7.7 I would spend the cash to have a usable device for my needs with a slot. Then again if you can compress five hours to a gig for video it's not TOO terrible, and actively manage the music on it. I have a 64GB playbook (gift from BB). It might be crap, and I would never have bought it, but at least it has 64GB for music and vids so I don't need a sd slot...this on the other hand :-(
