I don't like the mass of space on one side of the page with a widescreen monitor now (as shown in the pic), and I'd like to have the subscriptions page as the first thing I see, as it was before, rather than going having to click on "My Subscriptions" on the left.
Don't mind it apart from that, having only been using it a day or two I can't really say whether it's better.
I like it, especially the new playlists.
I like it, It's very simple
My first thoughts were 'wtf' as well, but now that I've spent some time with it I actually much prefer it in most ways, particularly as it now matches the theming for the rest of google services.. not so fond of the 'guide' on the left and all that empty whitespace and having to click the list icon to bring up my channels and whatnot. Hopefully they make better use of the 'guide' whitespace.
I guess I'm lucky in that I never thought of Youtube as a well designed website. It was never as bad as Facebook, but it was certainly not good. Therefore, there isn't really that much they can do to make it worse for me.
Youtube... why are you so white. We all know the future is black.
I liked the way it was before, subscriptions in the middle, recommended videos on the right. Now it's a random mashup in the middle of my homepage and unrelated recommended channels on the right.
When I watch a video there's a ton of wasted space, now pages are way too long and narrow, I would have thought they'd design the website for widescreens but they just bunched everything towards the left side IMO.
Looks good to me..
All the white and light gray text on white background makes my eyes bleed. Especially when the Android app for Youtube is pure black, and is actually easier on the eyes (and displays).
The one thing I've always wished youtube would do is get rid of the amount of white on every page. It does my eyes in! They never seem to do it.
i thought this was an error - i sent youtube an email and told them to fix it lol..... really do not like this design at all
I'm finding it utterly horrible. Upon visiting the site I'm now given a list of videos it thinks I want to watch (but don't), and if I switch it to show my subscriptions with uploads only, it doesn't stay that way. Every time I load the home page I have to re-choose my preference. Very annoying.
Additionally, I can't seem to pin my chosen subscriptions on the left any more, I have to search for the channel manually.
On top of that, they seem to have sort of removed the ability to view a users other videos at the top of the video you're watching. It still exists for some channels and gets replaced by "MORE FROM *My Subscriptions*" on others. I'm not sure why that's happening.
There's also the fact that everyone now has their avatar show up in the comment sections. Not that anyone should typically read Youtube comment sections, but it looks terrible nonetheless.
Seriously, can I have the old one back please? Everything I did before has been made more difficult or impossible.
It's called 'responsive web design'. I call it ... Bull**it! Just one out of a bunch of 'big words' for web designers to use when they need to excuse their budgets and this is how it looks like in all its glory. It's ugly, confusing,... It's... well, not wanting to hold the asterisk key for too long, let's just say that I join all your assessments.
