Re: News - Xbox One ‘A New Generation Revealed’

Could look the place in a modern entertainment set up - let's face it you are getting a hell of a lot of power for what you will pay (£399 according to pre-order prices I have seen).

I think Microsoft have taken the "one box" entertainment route simply because there is not enough difference in graphics/gameplay to really make these devices "next gen". The problem is can they pull it off as there is no point having lots of half-arsed features and functions that are worse than the original device you are looking to replace in the first place.

Are Microsoft also a bit late to this party (what with Smart TV, SkyPlus etc) and can they really make this work globally, as right now it really looks pretty much like a "US console launch". The features will no doubt evolve but they need to be semi-working for your territory or they can pretty much forget it ...

    No.

he began. "If I buy the disc from a store, I use that disc in my

    Right. Glad that's straightened out.

Immaterial really, as Domestic Management will never release the Purchase Request Acknowledgement.

It's a new hard disk recorder, and she can stream Desperate Housewives on demand.

Thanks for that link kalniel - although I'm still less than clear how they're going to work this in practice. Only thing I can think is some kind of cloud-based permissions feature like UAC.

Best thing - I guess - is to wait. Although if we end up swapping the two '360's in the house for two XBO's then I think it'd be sensible to install as much as possible on both systems.

Still that matter of price though, hopefully less than £400.

Since it's mandatory Kinect, push it as "fitness" equipment perhaps? All that arm waving would be just the job to prevent keyboard-induced RSI.

Hmm, nice to know that I'm not the only one that got away with that one.

How about a nice upgrade so you can do that stuff that the Samsung smart tv's do, without having the expense of having to "replace a perfectly good tv"?

Either that, or amplify the noise of the current XBox and "justify" it as a way to game a lot quieter (and hence not interrupt Eastenders/Corrie/Emerdale/etc) - although if you've also got a gaming PC then this won't work.

Already got one of those Samsung Smart TVs... Wedding lists are wonderful things!
I think I'm going to have to do the slowly slowly catchy monkey thing on this. Make it seem like the only choice is between an XBox or a PS, not between one of them or nothing at all...

I bought a 360 for the missus - based on an dancing game for kinect. No objections.

That said, it doesn't really get used and I keep thinking about using it as an extender for the media center in another room..

I will say I setup a quad tuner HTPC and got slims for each room on the cheap (cash generator) and its the best thing I ever did, even the mrs approves.

Its a no sale for me. My 360 is rarely used (and my kinect is in the loft). Would have been used a lot more for iplayer/netflix but I refuse to pay a fee for this this when my bluray player does it for nothing instead. I just want a games console for silly multiplayer games with the wife (i.e. Lego harry potter) and I can't help but feel a PS4 will do a better job of it (rather than being a jack of all trades)...
    Trust

i agree i think it would look well under a 60" tv in the lounge or any room
