I got a Windows Phone this year, so I won't be getting an iPhone 5S or C. To be honest, the C might boost Nokia and HTC windows phone sales by going the colourful route and being about £200-£300 more. It's good to see 64 bit come to the mobile market though.

That's like saying "not ever buying Windows PC again because of Dell's crapware pre-installed" or "not buying another internal combustion engine powered car again after that Skoda debacle". Android is open to a lot of modifications that are not always good, your argument is only valid for locked down OS like iOS or WinPhone. Don't buy another *Samsung* - try a Nexus...

I personally will not be buying any iTat, phones included. There is nothing compelling about them for me, overpriced, tiny screens, awful restrictive OS, irritating company ethos, iTunes, etc etc

Fingerprint readers will show up on other platforms soon if consumers take to it, 64 bit is not secret sauce (it's ARM's hard work anyway), completely unnecessary in phones until 4GB RAM is a reality and all the ARM manufacturers will be doing inside a year, colourful cases are just a massive no for me and I suspect most males and people over 25. There is absolutely nothing innovative about Apple, all they do is take things that have been around for a long time and add the extra 10% of optimisation to get it into a small enough phone chassis first, it's stuff anyone with the same R&D budget could do if they wanted to. As usual though it's marketed as way more than it actually is...

Lol. Personally I would question the judgement of anyone that could justify paying for one of the 5s contracts.

No, I personally prefer to go with Android more than apple. My next phone I want will be the Sony Xperia Z or Z1

Re: Features - QOTW: Will you be buying an iPhone 5C/5S?

Yes I might just buy another Apple phone, just because of the insanely intuitive usablility. And the re-sell value of those phones, just check out ebay for a iPhone 4s and a Samsung S2 which were released around the same time, everybody loves more money!

It is entertaining reading the replys from the members of the iHaters, which I admit i was a member of for the last couple of years. But life is too short to commit yourself to one Phone OS, without sampling for yourself, ive tried all now iOS/Andriod/WP8.

My biggest bug bare is the play store, badly designed/organised, apps badly/not vetted, any joe can make an app which is good if your a techy, but if your not it is a disaster waiting to happen. To this day I have never spent a penny on the play store, because i simply don't trust it with my details, although I have bought things from the apples app store.

It would be interesting to see out of all the ihaters, who has actually had a iPhone and used it for the full term of a mobile contract?

Probably not many, if you don't like something chances are you won't buy one or will replace it sooner.

I've not owned an iPhone but the mrs has an iPad and I've had to handle many iPhones at work for support purposes, everytime I do I find myself frustrated and happy to hand it back. They honestly have nothing that appeals to me and so much to wind me up and irritate, I'd rather have a Windows Phone if I couldn't have a Nexus anymore. I'd probably rather try a BB Z10 and my past experience the BB is hardly positive. Android is far from perfect, but it wins out by not making me want to go postal in the Google offices.

It's a shame to see Apple being so excruciatingly dull, they have an opportunity (i.e the bank balance) to heavily invest in brains and R&D, launch multiple models in different screen sizes, come up with genuinely useful new features, materials and technology but instead their 'new' ideas are fingerprint readers (which were yawn inducing on laptops) and colourful plastic cases (which Nokia already recycled from their own 1990s idea). iOS7 looks like just a reskin, I haven't seen much genuinely useful software improvements or new ideas being discussed. The lack of ambition and iterative boredom is reminiscent of the former king of Smartphones... Nokia.

Erm king of smart phone.... no.... king of simple phone and text mobiles then yes.

If you haven't used an iPhone as your primary phone, then your opinion is just exactly that.... your opinion.

Opinions are like a*$eholes, everybodys got one.

You wouldn't take the advise of someone about a car, if that someone had sat in the drivers seat and fiddled with the radio and electric windows but didn't actually take it for a drive?

Surely that is still the case if you have used one as your primary phone too? Everyone has their own preferences and opinions.

Not the best comparison however, as you can get free test drives, but would have to sign up to a contract if you wanted to try out the iPhone. Admittedly you could probably cancel within a certain timeframe if you didn't like it, but it would be a lot of hassle, and personally I see them as too expensive anyway (as with any phone that is £4-500+ and subject to 24-month contracts).

Yeah you would, just not about how the car feels to drive. They are perfectly capable of giving feedback about the quality of the seats, finishings and other bits in the car as well as giving you a less biased opinion about the user friendliness of buttons controlling the various gadgets on offer than a salesman would provide. So if a person has played with an iPhone they have plenty of useful information for you to use, just because they haven't used it for an extended period of time doesn't mean what they have experienced is of no importance.

Yes that is true. Although the opinions of a idevice user against a non idevice user is more useful to anyone undecided on whether to go for idevice or another. I wouldn't expect anyone here to take the opinion of a ifan about andriod, because he would probably do exactly what is going on here, slam the device/OS without fully knowing the product.

The advise from someone who has used the product briefly to setup email, then test (etc), is of significantly less value than someone who uses the product day in day out.

Will I be buying one? Was Gordon Brown a success as PM?

In short, hell no. I'm not paying that for ANY phone, and certainly not for iPhone.

Pretty much this. At best I may be tempted to snag an SGS4 somewhere around the £400 mark, but I'll see what the market is like. I still have a working phone and I have other more important things on the do-want list.
