Well I need to upgrade, still using an nVidea gtx280 (really I'm impressed at how well it has done, but I think the time has come to upgrade with BF4 coming up). How much would I pay for the r9 290x, without seeing reviews from people/sites I trust, £300 - £420.

Would pay no more than £300 although actual price is likely to be £550-580.

The most I ever paid for a card was £212, for an 8800 GTS 512. I'm looking to replace my current 460, but £200 is my limit.

I really don't think that AMD would compete with GTX Titan, then from past knowledge the AMD cards ending with 90 were dual gpu's. Now if this is really whats going to replace the the hd 7970, then i would only pay £349 for standard card and £429 for the MSI Lightning. Now if this card is replacing the hd 7990 then the price of £545 is acceptable

Not a penny... till I KNOW how it performs and that it doesn't have any bugs. Then and only then will I make a judgement on its value.

Re: Features - QOTW: How much would you pay for a Radeon R9 290X?

I wouldn't go above £300 for any graphics card to be honest.. and if I was going to spend the money, I would go for Nvidia at this point in time.

400 for an AMD card, 450 max, they would be really stupid to release it any higher.

£150. Maybe a little more. I don't buy high end cards.

Re: Features - QOTW: How much would you pay for a Radeon R9 290X?

I don't understand what has happened to GPU prices in the last couple of years. I bought an HD6950 (unlocked shaders so basically a 6970) in 2011 for £190. It was one of the fastest single GPU cards you could buy at the time, and it was considerably less than half the expected price for the 290X...what gives? £400+ for a single GPU is ridiculous IMHO. I think £300 odd should be the price for a high end enthusiast card. £800 is simply ludicrous.

Re: Features - QOTW: How much would you pay for a Radeon R9 290X?

£300-350 if I was in the market for one. Since I game on a 22 inch 1080p monitor I see no need to upgrade to something like this. My GTX570 does the job nicely.

Re: Features - QOTW: How much would you pay for a Radeon R9 290X?

    Personally no more than £300.

I'm quite serious. I think the highest end single-chip GPU from a manufacturer shouldn't be coming up more than this in its standard configuration. For custom versions, the price could rise to £350. Anything more than that is unjustifiable.

For the record, I despise paying more than around £200 for a single graphics card. As it is, this is a serious enough cash investment for a single computer part.

"I'm sick of these ever increasing rip-off prices every year for little extra performance. "
Me too, this is what I call "Price Gouging" it's pretty widespread in this industry. Personally I'm not prepared to pay more than £300 for any graphics card as within a 6-12 month period its out of date/been supplanted by the next latest/fastest yet piece of gear they already had in the pipeline.
If they try and price gouge customers they will lose them they need to be competitive and they will sell more!

I like the cooler anyway, the perfect price would be 600$

I'd wait for Sapphire or some of the other companies that AMD deals with to release their own version of the card. Testing will have to be don't by many gamers to convince me that the price is worth it. That's my opinion.

I'd be very happy if it retails for $599.
