Sad this, they should have just decided to delay it and give it an over-haul.
Ever since the debacle of C&C4 the franchise has been in major trouble. They should have gone back to the roots of the series and given fans what they want...a brilliant campaign mode based on base-building but with interesting other sortie missions, all in a humourous package with over-the-top acting, and a decent mulitplayer element to boot. We don't want crappy free-to-play that gives people who spend the most an advantage...I'll happily part with £20-30 for a proper C&C game though.
Does this announcement nullify the NDA? Cos I'd love to speak about my experience with it.

Going to agree with you there - in fact I'd go further and say I'd be VERY wary of ANY game where you can BUY a competitive advantage - e.g. some kind of hellacious sniper rifle or autoshotgun in a CoD-style FPS game.
On the other hand, I don't have a problem with the vendors offering a pay-for-time deal, so you can spend a pound or two to save having to do so much level grind. I'm playing Middle Manager of Justice (MMoJ) on my tablet and it's F2P but with the ability to buy resources that you'd otherwise have to play a couple of hours to get. So far I've managed to get away with a single, relatively-cheap purchase.
C&C though isn't a game I've paid much attention to - too cerebral for me.
A graphical overhaul of Red Alert would be enough for me. The problem with C&C in the modern gaming world is that it's just not a game that needs a massive development budget - it would be better suited as more of a budget title rather than given AAA status.
And when are they going to do a mobile port of the old games. Surely C&C would work wonderfully on a touch screen with a few interface tweaks.
I still think the original Red Alert with aftermath and counterstrike(?) was the best C&C game.
I loved all the silly voices, especially the shock troopers "power on, extra crispy"
In other words.... ea couldn't figure out how to make a lot of easy money from it... people probably weren't spending a lot so ea didn't keep going with it. They're all about the money in my experience (nfsw , C&C Tiberium) even if it is a 'f2p' game
Bring back C&C Renegade with a good story. That game was fun.

Good, it looked bloody awful! Wish they'd made this decision early with that POS Syndicate FPS.
The latest Red Alert was awful as well, I tried for 30minutes then uninstalled. I may just chcek out CnC4....if only for some Kane.
noooooo,i was really looking forward to this :\
It literally looked identical to generals but with newer graphics. To be honest I'd be happy with a remake of that in a new engine, as they really are distractingly bad now even though I remember them being unbelievably good at release.
If you didn't like Red Alert 3 you'll really hate CnC4.
What a shame , it looked good from the outside and I feel sorry for the developers, working so hard and having no fruit to bear
