Quite nice monitor, looks nice and would match my rig with that red theme. Asus guys say it will be priced at $799, which is about £500, quite reasonable if uk's retailers won't boost up price. Anyways we will see, looking for this one!
Yeah, I think it is a great looking feature but I can see it becoming very annoying if you can't turn it off when you don't need/want it on.
As far as I can tell that's a standard 24" non g-Sync model that has been modded by the 3XS team to have the G-Sync circuit board fitted, so there is most likely a premium being charged for fitting the chip but it also means that the warranty will still be valid as it was work that was performed by an authorised professional rather than a DIY job done on the dining table at home.
With the example of the Asus VG248QE 24" monitors the non G-Sync model is £273.89 and the G-Sync model is £441.41 while the current entry level Asus 27" 2560x1440 model is £449.12, however this is a PLS screen not a TN screen, so I don't think it would be right to estimate the cost of the new PG278Q as £449.12 + the £167.52 difference between the 24" models. My guess is that the 27" price would be around the price of a 27" TN panel plus something along the lines of that price difference though.
From what I have read the Panel on these screens is better than a standard TN panel, giving either a full 8 bit or 10 bit display rather than the standard 6 bit displays that you usually get with a TN panel, this would mean that the colour accuracy would be a lot closer to IPS panels than has been previously seen on TN screens, I can't wait for the reviews to see how true that is as I have been teetering on the edge of buying an IPS screen.
I know they are intending to release in Q2, so that's anytime between the start of April and the end of June.
I was looking online to see if I could discover anything new about these monitors and found this which I think is an awesome description of G-Sync.
I would love to be able to drop $2400 plus tax to swap out my current monitors. I would need new mounting brackets or a triple display stand to reduce desk space. But o wait I am poor so I am stuck with 3 different monitors of different screen sizes and max resolutions. I do love my ASUS display and I have been looking at G sync a bit so maybe I can start saving now and get one of these crazy displays and swap out my primary. Still it will probably be around $1000 for one with shipping and taxes included. Can Hexus say Canada only competition :O. No aye .
Prices are based off an estimated $799.99 which is what the main article hinted at and the site ZephyrSurfer posted.
The article stated it will have a price rivaling this display http://hexus.net/tech/news/displays/...2840-monitors/
