N64 + Goldeneye is number one for me, then Gamcube + RES4 and XBox 360 in joint second.
I was't a console gamer till the Dreamcast. I has a MasterSystem, between my parents Spectrum and my Amigas.
To be honest I was a computer gamer for the longest time.
Now I am happy on both.
The PS3 is probably my most played system. Uncharted, Valkyria Chronicles and some good multi platform games like Burnout Paradise and Assassins Creed 2.
So my heart says Dreamcast, good times with Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia and Soul Calibur.
My head says PS3 just by the numbers. It feels too soon to be a classic though.
PsOne or Xbox 360
many happy hours on both, PSOne was a revelation in so many ways, and probably the first console that I actually felt was true to the arcade experience, which is probably why games arcades started dying out shortly after its release.
Xbox 360 - flawed genius. best for sheer quality of games and Xbox live, first console that I felt really nailed the online side of things. RROD and noise was an issue but with titles like Gears and Halo it didnt matter, also had the best controller (except for fighting games, cos it sucked for that).
PS3 i liked, but didnt really match the x360, PS2 was brilliant but so was the original Xbox. ps4 and xbox One have still to prove themselves.
Sega Mega Drive.
It single handedly changed the world of gaming. DID YOU KNOW FIFA 94 was available on Sega Mega drive ?
As a games console - I'd say Playstation 2. Playing GT3 for the first time was a landmark moment in my gaming life. This is followed by the Megadrive which was just awesome when you were 7 or 8.
As an all round device I really like my Playstation 3, it is my media hub. It's barely played any games (I preferred the 360 controller).
i loved my Playstation. So many games i played on it that i did enjoy. went through about 5 of them. miss that machine. was a good looking one too.
My instant answer would of course be the PS1, spent far too many hours on that thing. And still have my games library running on the PS2 in one of the bedrooms. The Wipeout series made it.
My Dreamcast is still hooked up to the main TV, and probably gets more action than the PS3/360. I have fond memories of the MegaDrive too.
Original Playstation. Mainly because of Magic Carpet and Tekken, but it was also the era when lots of mags did demo disks on the front and games could be hired / resold down the local shop easily.
Nintendo 64
Goldeneye was awesome for a console game.
N64 for me, no question.
The best games of it's generation, the best graphics, most innovative (and comfortable) controller design i've ever seen in a console..it was a pure gaming machine.
Sony may have won on the marketing side with the PSx/PS2, but they were poor relations graphically and in terms of the quality of the games produced.
Such a shame Nintendo went rapidly downhill after the N64 and never quite recoveredThey /used/ to be the best at making games consoles (and subsequently games) but these days have been over taken by Sony/MS and relegated to the novelty arena.
Hard question. Gonna have to be my PS2. All nighters suffering through Black, Split-screen battles in Burnout Revenge, shouts of cheap game in Tekken 5, adventures with Jak and Daxter and "winner-stays" fights in Soul Calibur 3. Good ol days when games that came out were not only complete but also functioned as intended.
I've never owned a video game console. I did have both a Commodore 64 (still do, actually) and two Amigas (A500 and A2000), but neither qualifies as a console in my book. After the last Amiga I went PC and that's what I've been using ever since, both for gaming and work.
Xbox 360, looks good, nice controller, and excellent graphics.
I've always been more of a computer gamer (Speccy, C64, Amiga, PC) but I did love my Vectrex back in the day.

I have to admit this, and i hate to do so, i've never heard of a Vectrex.
