We've had neural net cards and CMM add-on boards for some time now. The neat thing about this is just the die shrink I guess - that and IBMs name carries a bit more weight than the Advanced Computer Architectures group at York uni.

No news on how it performs at standard compute tasks though. It would be interesting to see what sort of sacrifices have been made to get the advancements that it has!
