I use the Logitech K400 keyboard as its cheep and cheerful. However I'd prefer a bluetooth keyboard with backlighting. Can't find one for love nor money though.

(Windows Media Centre on Windows 8.1)
I would love to still be using the original media centre keyboard due to the built in shortcut keys but the IR was getting to unreliable - so now use the K400R for anything behind the scenes, and have kept the trusty MC remote which I can't live without for in MC navigation...

Re: Features - QOTW: Which is the best HTPC controller?

I have used quite a few different options.
Started with a Logitech MX keyboard and mouse, but too ungainly.
Then got a hold of a media centre remote (good for movies, etc especially as backlit), but falls down when needing a keyboard/ mouse set-up.
A Logitech K400 keyboard/mousepad was good, but not backlit.
Finally, I now use a Logitech K830 keyboard/mousepad alongside the Microsoft media centre remote and this is by far the best combination yet.
Both are backlit, and the K830's batteries last well over a month with daily use, when set to low, plus gestures work fine on the touchpad with Windows 7 and 8.1.
I have also tried other options, such as a couple of mini keyboard/mousepad combo's,and a non-Microsoft media centre remote as examples. But even though they may have been usable (some were OK, some too small, some not so good), they did not work anywhere near as well as my present set-up when it comes to reliability, functional capabilities and ease of use.
I also have a Qnap TS469l NAS and I use the official Qnap remote and the Logitech K400 with this. As I rarely use the K400 (also good as a spare to temporarily replace the K830 when charging), not being backlit is not a disadvantage.
As my TV and HTPC has NFC, Bluetooth, and AC WIFI and my Qnap has Bluetooth and dual band WIFI, I wonder when someone will bring out a good set-up which takes advantage of one of these. I have seen some Bluetooth set-ups, but they seem to be unpopular to make for some reason, as there are not many varieties out there for sale

Have no idea what you (message posted by Chavo) are talking about as there is no description of what you have.
    What do you have?

Re: Features - QOTW: Which is the best HTPC controller?

    Hi mapester
I have just bought a pulse eight adapter and hoping to use the cec capability of my Panasonic tv with xbmc/kodi.

Got a few questions I hope you may be able to answer.

Will I be able to power on my htpc from sleep/standby using my tv remote? Also can I remap my remote control keys in xbmc and still use pulse eight?

    Cheers for any info
