Indeed - which is why I'm disappointed they're bothering with shooter stuff that is already well catered for. Those of us who loved WC and not shooters were not well catered for in today's game market, so when RSI popped up with golden tickets we were very excited.

    That's just creepy!

Nope, I'm looking at it like I'm a customer.

Oh I'm not trying to affect the development, just giving my opinion on an internet discussion board.

I think I've described how it can make the game less fun. By the way, did you ever play any of Derek Smart's games?

I don't think many people are slagging it off here, but equally, I think if you have your mind blown by a game, particularly if it's just watching some footage of it, then you need help

    Thanks, I needed a laugh

That I didn't know. Have you got some examples?
Oh Kalniel... lol.... I could respond to all that stuff, but I'm just gonna leave it. I know where you stand, and that's ok. Let's just poke fun at eachothers opinions on SC from now on instead of even trying to debate with eachother yeh? Looks like you already got the jump on that anyway lol

Likewise... even though I am becoming more and more disappointed with how it's all sounding. Namely less like a game of fun... I've already written off my investment, so it's mostly disappointment that I may not get to enjoy it myself, more so since I am a big Freelancer fan.
Other than that, it's like any other game - If it turns out any good, I'll get stuck in. If not, I'll go play something else.

My biggest concern is Chris Roberts's reputation for delays. Freelancer apparently suffered badly because he kept trying to add more features, to the point where Microsoft's deadline had long since passed and they kicked/forced him out just so they could get a product released before the next Millenium turned... So far, RSI haven't been the most punctual, even when they're setting their own deadlines.

    Cheapskates!!
I've spent more than that on Christmas presents for other players... though strangely I only have the cheapy stuff for myself.

There's always people with more free time than you to get better at whatever game you're playing. You'll never avoid that no matter what game you'll play. I don't see how that is specific to ship boardings anyway!

CR does have a rep for delaying, I know.. I think we'll just have to wait and see how it turns out. I'm just one of those people that is so damn excited about this game. It's looking like it's going to be basically everything I've ever wanted from a space game. I can't help being positive about it

Once again I think their idea of "realistic" shows a lack of imagination. My rifle of the future can expect to be anti shake, auto aiming and can fire around corners. The technology mostly exists with things like:

    http://www.extremetech.com/extreme/1...e-up-to-a-mile

so what will the weapon of the future look like? Shoot from the wrist like Spiderman? Helmet mounted death ray? Entire space suit acting as a phased array emitter so you nominate in a HUD where you want the energy to lethally combine. Perhaps you would command a swarm of flying wasp like projectiles?

Half Life did something interesting with the Ant Lions and gravity guns. This just sounds dull, sorry.

People say the same thing about the sound in this game, because there's no sound in space or whatever. But how much fun would it be playing a game with no sound? The realism in this game is in the physics more than anything. Guns with no recoil wouldn't be as skilled or as fun. They're putting way more into making this a fun, skill based game than people realise. People keep making judgements against this game without actually understanding what it is they're actually trying to do with it..

Come off it lol.. You're just so stuborn on this subject that I thought I wouldn't bother debating it with you anymore. I can see you have your idea set in stone, you're disappointed it's not gonna be quite how you wanted, and I can live with that

Where have I said I'm set in stone? That would be an odd thing. At the moment, yes, I'm disappointed. But expressing that disappointment is no more (and I'd say less) unreasonable than assuming the game is going to be amazing, which I presume you're also not set in stone about (are you?). I think (hope) we both have common ground in that we're open to revising our opinions when the game comes out.

Nah you never said that. Just the impression I get - I may be wrong. Mine isn't either. I just feel more positive about it than you. That's all I will be checking back with you once it's been out for a while though to see what you think!

That's the point - This is not an FPS.
There is an FPS element, but only when you exit your ship's cockpit.

Otherwise, this is a space sim... sort of... more a combat-trading sim... but a flight sim... as well as a combat sim... and a trading sim... and an open-world, on-rails, story-based, single player campaign tutorial sim...

Oh heck - This is an online, tactical, sandbox, action-adventure, space sim, flightsim, combat sim, trading sim, co-op, PvP, PvE, FPS, TPS, RTS, MMO, MOBA, MMORPG, MMOFPS... All of which is being released in parts to those who subscribed/pledged, during the pre-pre-pre-Alpha, pre-pre-Alpha, pre-Alpha, Alpha, pre-Beta, Beta, pre-Delta, Delta, pre-Gamma, Gamma (and probably a load of post- stages too)... But the final game will be just the same and likely yours for less than £50.

It's kinda like those DeAgostini magazines where you collect each issue and build a £35 Revell kit-type Millenium Falcon model, for the end price of over £900!!
