Feeling even better about my recent 290X purchase now! So it's only going to be those two Fury cards that are anything new. Can't be too long until we get some good info on them now..

Well a quick look just now and the cheapest 290 I could see at CCL was £226, which would tie in with my thought that stock levels are now low enough that prices are surging back up. I notice that Scan don't have a single 285 in stock, the 285 that I paid £120 for 3 weeks ago is no longer in stock at ebuyer (now think I should have bought 2 at that price).
One of many R9 290 deals for under £200 from a few retailers a couple of days ago:

Just got the asus direct cu ii 290x for £227.
This confirmed its a good choice and at that price an absolute bargain!
Cat, I believe you. I haven't ever seen you tell fibs and I can't imagine you starting now
That HUKD is marked as "expired", the link to the deal is a page error at ccl. A quick look on HUKD shows an ASUS 290 at the same price, also gone.
A couple of weeks ago these deals were *everywhere*. Now looking around to see if I can find another 285 to play with crossfire and it is hard to find much stock let alone a bargain.
Edit to add: Currys for £200, but I had to put a bit of effort in rather than just using Google shopping: http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computi...24542-pdt.html
The tech person in me is disappointed by yet another re-badge / SKU rename by AMD, although I suppose it's about putting things into perspective. Nvidia hasn't rebadged, but then this means that customers benefit from the advancements in efficiency of Maxwell. If Maxwell had only bought performance to the table, then it wouldn't really have mattered all that much whether they rebadged or not.
Unless I'm not mistaken Fury is bringing with it performance, but not a great deal else that's brand new and that buyers of products further down the stack are going to sorely miss?
Looks very disappointing. A 970 can be had for £230 if you look for them and whilst 290X prices have come down, in some cases as low as £215 recently, they haven't come down far enough when considering a 970 uses less power and is cooler and therefore quieter.
A rework/rebrand may get these AMD cards more in line with nvidia's offerings, but I'm wondering if that will be at a competitive price. Leaning "Green" for an upgrade for the first time in a long while.

If this is true, then I'm speechless. This is awfully disappointing. "A new era of PC gaming" with a mere rebrand, really AMD?
So, still no need to update my 290x x2 set-up.
Although why would I when running 3 monitors on games without a problem (no 4K but I have 3x 24" 1980x1200 as 3x 4K monitors are just too expensive for me.
Besides, I would prefer a set up of three of those 34" or bigger, curved, ultra wide 4K screens designed for gaming. I think that would look pretty good. But could you run a 3 monitor 4K system like that for gaming and at what price?
If I was a rich man ...........
Same story year after year.
"Some names and identifying details have been changed to protect the privacy of graphics cards."
There is a nomenclature issue here. The NEW tech GPU with the HBM will be called AMD FURY and the FURY X. These will be the flagship cards with 4gb HBM (stacked mem) and the 390's, 380s are suped-up versions of the 290 series with 8gigs of DDR5. They will be the lesser, yet more affordable cards.
So we are talking about 2 DIFFERENT cards. FURY and 300 series.
