I'll "upgrade" when DX12 happens. Until then there's not much point as 10 isn't a huge improvement over 8.1
I don't like the idea of losing my ability to revert to an earlier OS, if the stories are accurate. I paid for my Windows 7 licence and I paid for the Win8 upgrade for it - at the moment, I think I'd rather pay a nominal fee and keep my older OSes, than take a free upgrade and lose them.

If the recently updated privacy statement that GuidoLS posted in another thread is going to be the one that applies to Windows 10 then there's not a chance in hell that I would even use Windows 10, let alone install it on my own PC.
I do wonder how many of the people that install Windows 10 are going to just click through the licence & privacy statement without a care in the world, never knowing the extent of the data being collected about their personal lives.
I will give it at least a month, maybe even a fresh install when Z170 drops.
I'm now on Win_X 1162 -> It rocks ! Great for Gaming

Been on the insider for about 4-5 months, teething issues have gotten less and less. Really good for gaming as loccothan said.
IF I upgrade, it will be when the two Windows only applications I use stop working with Win 7. Based on my previous upgrade history that tends to be after about 8 years so I guess around 2023. At the moment I am contemplating installing an unopened 64 bit version of Win 7 on VM to keep it going. That copy was bought at the discount rate when Win 7 was launched.
For me,its Morea question of why should I upgrade, what will it enable me to do that I can't do at the moment, and the answer is..... nothing.
I don't tend to be an early adopter, I prefer to let others find the snags. But it is a moot point whether I will upgrade at all. I'll review it in a year or two.

I've been using the beta versions for awhile and so far so good. My next tasks are to change my video unit to windows 8 to retain windows media center. I am hoping that at some stage, someone will come out with a WMC replacement for windows 10 since Microsoft has decided to end that project.
As soon as I can because I am currently running win 7 pro 32bit on an old laptop drive so I will be getting the 64bit version and putting it on an ssd.
Instead of upgrading, I will probably just wait until I get a new laptop where it will undoubtedly come with it.

Just upgraded from 8.1 to 10 Preview. Took under 1 hour and EVERYTHING is working just like it was.. Even the scheduled backups
Knowing Microsoft's track record I would probably come back and look at Windows 10 in a year. By then I think we should have a much better idea of what direction MS want to try and take us.
