Re: Moto G, Moto X Play and Moto X Style smartphones launched

£299 for the X play seems a bit steep considering their old price point for entry/mid range phones which were brilliant budget phones, and having used a Moto G, was such a nice experience on android compared to the bloattastic samsung/HTC I have used in the past. As pointed out, they are a company moving with the market and its improved specs (something I have been looking for) along with the fact its the Android 5.1.1 (closest Vanilla experience you'll have, bar the Nexus) and N upgradable, but if Im going up to 300, why not pay the bit extra and get the phone with all the bells and whistles? Or is this a perception of more money on better hardware = better experience/longevity of phone?
I did however almost miss the nano SIM requirement - sad times
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Re: Moto G, Moto X Play and Moto X Style smartphones launched

Looking like it'll come down to either the OnePlus Two or Moto X Play as the much-needed upgrade for my iPhone 4.

The Moto G could have hit a sweet spot -- I was pretty excited for it when I saw launch pricing announced at $179 USD -- but that 1:1 conversion's leaving a bitter taste. As Saracen said, expectations are a fair bit higher for a £180 phone and I'm not sure it has/does enough to justify that price-point. The specs aren't anything special and the drop-off in permanent storage hurts all the more when it's paired with the loss of SDXC support.

The specs of the Moto X Style seem a bit OTT and I certainly wouldn't pay more for them with the impact it has on battery life; I'll be interested to see how the OnePlus Two compares in that regard, I've definitely got concerns.

The OnePlus Two certainly seems like the best deal, dual-SIM and USB Type C are nice too, but the battery life and lack of microSD (let alone SDXC) are red flags. The Moto X Play seems like less phone for more money but I can't help but think I'd find it easier to live with.

Re: Moto G, Moto X Play and Moto X Style smartphones launched

I am due and upgrade in a few months and I am torn between the Moto X style and the new nexus phablet and the nexus 6.

I am using a note 3 and the screen size is awesome bit of don't like physical keys (and i have turned them off in my rom) i like the screen size of the nexus 6 but dislike the lack of sd card. The Moto has better specs and the screen size is a good 5.7 and it is a nice looking phone and had all the features I need. Also waiting for the new nexus phablet to see what that's like. So far Moto is winning.
