Just as it's hard to sell easy to use devices that actually work to the 'enthusiast' crowd.

Amusing comment on a Samfan board along the lines of: seeing as Apple seems determined to copy Samsung (Note style tablets, Plus models, etc) - how long before we see an iPhone6 Edge? Oooh, talk about poking a wasps nest with a big stick - so much venom from the iFans.

Nothing funnier than watching two groups of fanboys going at it is there?

Being a bit of a killjoy leads me to wonder if the processor power "arms race" is more to do with a lack of interest in optimising the OS and hence having to throw more powerful hardware at the problem as a solution. That said, I'm of the opinion that iOS is (far?) better optimised than Android, although Windows Phone 7 always struck me as being pretty slick.
Apple have for a while been at least in the leading pack if not simply in the lead for CPU grunt. Hard to quantify, not many cross platform benchmarks to play with. I am still convinced that they intend dumping Intel at some point, the ARM chips get faster and Intel seem to clock their chips ever slower in the hunt for lower power consumption, there already isn't much in it.

Lack of interest optimising? The usual reason given is that it is better for power usage to get the work done and shut off than it is to do it slowly and be running for longer. If it gets you a snappier feel as well as better battery life, then that is a bonus.

I don't think so. The problem with many enthusiasts is they understand value for money.

Buying a cut-down phone for twice the price of a feature-rich one, is not going to float the boats of many enthusiasts......especially on products where profit margins are absolutely insane.

But if a person is into fashion, they will pay whatever something costs.

    Let me check your sig.....

GTX 780ti sli, i7, areca 1680, dell 3007. That lot makes a £2,000 iphone look like good value.

The look at your phone...... much more expensive than an iphone6/6s with less performance.

Are you saying that you are not an enthusiast? No, you are, you are happy to buy just as much overprices bling tat as the apple fanbois.

Give us fat phones with 5000mha batterys in them ( well give me one at least )
Sadly, I suspect that they've done their market research and making the phone most people indeed want. And it isn't fat phone.

I am using my S3 with a 7000mAh Zerolemon battery. It turned my phone into a brick, though from memory, it is probably no fatter than the Sony Ericsson P800i. Certainly pocket-able without being noticeable as long as you aren't into tight clothing (which I am not). The few comments I've had is long the line of "Wow, massive", "Isn't that heavy" etc. When I explain that it is huge because of the battery, and will definitely last a whole day if not two, and can last over 10 days on standby, they are usually impressed but not enough that they want one.. they'd rather carry an external battery which together would probably be about as heavy and thick as my phone, but it seems like most people here have some sort of bag anyway, and they pretty to keep their pocket light.. it seems.

I think it is a hassle to charge throughout the day, especially if you have a busy day where you are constantly moving. But I guess that it must be like removable batteries and microSD. I want it, but the rest of the market don't seem to care enough to compromise on the aesthetics.

Wonderful thing choice, so if you really want 1440p on a 5 inch screen (probably a minority requirement) you can do so, just not from Apple.

While I feel some sympathy for your disappointment, I'm sure you'll get over it!

Nothing personal but after Steve Job Apple just not really good anymore. Just like when they kicked him out of the company but now he gone for real and there is no coming back
