Using technology over the past year

"It's Been a Day-to-Day Battle With Intruders". Something of a bitter look back on the year, but it isn't inaccurate. We have had more than our fair share of security issues, worms, viruses and as a result, patches, updates, service packs and the hassle that comes with them. Rob Pegoraro looks back over the technological year or 2004.
Windows users did gain one decent remedy this year -- switching from Microsoft's Internet Explorer browser to Mozilla Firefox, released in November as a free download for Windows as well as Mac OS X and Linux (www.mozilla.org). Firefox is safer to use because it lacks IE's support for ActiveX Web programs (commonly used to hijack browsers) while adding defenses against "phishing" identity-theft scams.

I clicked on the read more here link and instead of an article I get a Washington Post sign up form which is "required".

Is this kind of thing going to become more common for Hexus users? I realise you want to make more money but I suspect the methods you are/have been employing will lose you as many visitors as you gain.

The recent changes to the Hexus.net format makes it less appealing to me than before. I am sure that I am not alone in this opinion but understand that you must face commercial pressures both from without and from expectations from within.

No, that's just the Washington Post website requiring subscribtion. When I followed the link to it (from Google News initially) it did not ask me to register, however now it is.

I'm actually quite annoyed by that - and come to think of it slashdot mention this about the site a fair bit. I personally am not going to register, the is no need for it in my opinion.

Glad to hear someone else with a similar opinion. Sadly your new link gives two choices, Washington Post or Google Alerts sign-up. Either way one cannot read this article directly. Sad.
