Re: Apple launches official iPhone 6s Smart Battery Case

...aaand so they`re expecting us pay to put back the things they took out so they could charge us extra to not have the things that were there in the first place- less is more, huh?, oh but now more is more...

    or is it just me?

Good lord that is ugly. Really not what you'd expect from Apple - say what you like about their marketing hype and questionable pricing but the one thing they usually DO get right is design...

They are a bit constrained by the physical characteristics of the battery, and as someone posted earlier, maintaining compatibility with docks etc.

Hard to judge looking at photos too, it might look better in RL.

Re: Apple launches official iPhone 6s Smart Battery Case

I thought 1st April was behind us ...or several months out, depending on ones point of view.

What isn't really debatable is how incredibly fugly this "smart battery case" is. Although I'm sure the Apple apologetics will find a way to spin this. I mean, even the Apple Watch sells like hot cakes.

Any chance a product like this from Apple would have seen the light of day under Steve Jobs?

Who cares what it looks like if it does the intended job, which is extend battery life? Certainly more convenient than a separate battery pack.

Because it's Apple? If there's ever been a company obsessing about "beautiful design" it's Apple. And this case is truly an eye sore.

I wonder if this will make them nicer to hold, they really do not feel good at the moment.

This simply highlights why I do not want a phone with a sealed battery. I'd rather trade watertight for the ability to perform manual hard resets as well as easily swapping in fully charged, or even replacement (new) batteries quickly and easily.

Im not sure it is Apple that obsess or the fanboys, although in engineering design, form often follows function. But I bought the Apple products that I own for what they do, not what they look like, and as I have only seen a photograph of that case, I can't really comment, other than to say that from the photo, it isn't the prettiest of designs, but if it extends the time between charging, that is the most important thing.

And I can't really see how you could fit an optional higher capacity battery and still fit in a docking system without doing something like that.

Unfortunately that seems to be the trend by many mfrs though.

Re: Apple launches official iPhone 6s Smart Battery Case

Wonder what is the capacity on those things.

For what it's worth, I find that with batteries of similar size, you often get what you pay for or close enough. Now and then you may find 3rd party battery that is almost as good or even better at first (until it starts loosing it charge - which in my experience always happen sooner with 3rd parties) for quite a bit less money. More often, they aren't nearly as good or downright polluting rubbish.

As for the bump, I doubt it is really going to trouble anyone ergonomically. Smartphone of this size probably aren't going to be used one handed all that often.. And if my tiny hands can hold a Galaxy with a Zero Lemon, I don't see how that bump is going to bother anyone (who isn't bothered just because of "Apple"). Aesthetically maybe it's not as sleek. But really fatter phones are rarely regarded as sleek, and it hasn't stopped me from fitting probably the most bulky battery I could find in my Galaxy.

Re: Apple launches official iPhone 6s Smart Battery Case

I have the iPhone 6s plus, and the battery life is fine.

I use a portable battery bank to charge all my gadgets on the go. So I don't really need this ugly hump on my phone.

Doesn't look good, and way too expensive for what it is... Much cheaper/better options out there.
