    Re: QOTW: Which PC parts did you upgrade in 2015?

    I went from a 7850 to a 390 thanks to black Friday. Although this didn't fit in my Antec 300 despite the fact there should have been enough space, so I bought a Fractal Design Define R5.

    Thought I better get a decent modular PSU while I was at it as my old one probably wouldn't have been enough for the 390 so I picked up a Superflower Leadex 750W.

    Don't think black Friday really saved me any money to be honest...

    Does it still count as an upgrade if I moved from a crappy laptop and built my very own PC?

    From my laptop I went from a intel i5 3230m and Nvidia 620m to AMD athlon X4 860K and AMD R9 380 so you can imagine how happy I am with the performance

    Video card went from a HIS AMD 290 to a Gigabyte 980Ti G1. Still have the 290 as it's a great card.

    Just grabbed my 1st SSD but still to install as I can't make my mind up over Windows 10.

    Only my mouse, I replaced a RAT 9 with a Roccat Tyon. Very nice mouse but the analogue paddle on the side screws with my xbox 360 controller in many games making it unusable.

    a 144hz 1080p monitor, nothing else. Was looking to upgrade my PC but I'll now wait until next year before deciding, hopefully with the threat of Zen, Intel will have to up their game. That and hopefully DDR4 prices will come down to slightly more reasonable levels.

    Ram 8gb to 16gb. Also want to replacing aging 580 gtx and stick decent cooler on 3570k so I can OC it. Should do me for a few years of poor parenthood.

    Re: QOTW: Which PC parts did you upgrade in 2015?

    Radeon 7850 -> GTX 960
    Q6600, mobo and 4GB RAM -> i5-4460, new mobo, 8GB RAM
    boot drive 128GB SSD - > 240GB SSD
    Old case, IDE DVDRW -> New case, SATA DVDRW
    4.5 Mbps ADSL -> 37 Mbps Fibre

    Total spend approx £160 (after selling old gear etc). Been a good year of upgrades after neglecting it for too long. Just got fibre this week and... wow! No more leaving the PC on overnight to download something from Steam!

    Next target is replacing the 1TB storage HD with an SSD of at least the same size. No massive rush for that though.
