We can but hope!
- Q - Can you guys work with Khronos and release a full featured OpenSL? Maybe even donate TrueAudio to Khronos to kickstart the process? Immersive VR requires not only low-latency visuals, but also low-latency 3D sound.
- A - WRT OpenSL, decent point I'll bring it up internally.
They obviously haven't tested GoW:UE then!At the current time AMD is pleased that it has "lead in performance on every DX12 app/test so far".
I wish they would quantify that better.Currently we have projected a 2x performance per watt jump over existing hardware

Not sure why they held back on FuryX2, weren't any technical issues sorted months ago? Now it's to be released within a few months of the new models...
Hopefully be less than $1000, maybe bundled with VR headset & top tier games/apps?

AMD's preferred target market for the X2 is VR. But I imagine they want to know if VR will get a big enough take-up to make it worth pushing the card as THE solution for VR: if there are only a few hundred VR sets sold then that's not much of a market to go for, and they can change the marketing to push it's amazing 4k performance (assuming it have amazing 4k performance, that is). Anyway, when the delay was first announced it was specifically mentioned that it was due to wanting to target the VR market.
As to releasing it just months before the new round of cards; whilst that's true, this is going to be a card with potentially 70% higher performance than the Fury X. That's a huge performance space to work new cards in to. It's been true for several generations now that the best performing AMD card is actually the X2 card of the previous generation. In fact, it currently is: the 295 X2 is faster (assuming a properly working crossfire profile) than the Fury X. So I see no issue with the Fury X2 releasing shortly before the new generation cards: they'll slot in underneath the Fury X2, into the sizeable performance gap that will leave.
