I think £150 is a bit hopeful, unless they do a low clock 6 core cut down variant. But then 6 cores is more than enough for most people and they might be overclockable.

Well if a 8C/16T Zen CPU is double the speed of an 8C FX8350 in CB R15,that would be a massive jump in ST performance for that one benchmark,as SMT seems to be around 30% scaling in the benchmark with Intel CPUs.

    Sigh, that's a bit antagonistic isn't it?

My son plays it, along with about 5.5 million others. That is less than half what it was at its peak, but still a subscription base most games companies would kill for.

The game engine gets re-written every couple of years, all the artwork have been re-done, it isn't the old 32 bit single thread DX7 game it started as.

Recommending Windows 10 for the next expansion is a bit sucky mind: https://us.battle.net/support/en/art...arcraft-legion

It makes sense though, as they would want to recommend less technical users stay updated and thus (in theory) as protected as possible. Now if they had set it as a (required) minimum then I would agree with you.

We shall see what it's actually like when it's released and independantly reviewed. Until then anything about it can be taken with a pinch of salt. I gave up listening to any hype that came out of AMD a long time ago.

Well the last expansion was recommending a 64 bit platform which totally makes sense. The only reason I can think of recommending 10 is if they want to use DX12, which seems odd when Vulkan would be far better suited to their user base (lots of non computer experts on laptops) and ISTR Blizzard are part of the consortium behind Vulkan. DX12 might explain why they are recommending more thread in the CPUs too compared to last expansion.

And yes I am keeping an eye on this, we generally end up with the whole house playing a new expansion until we get bored of it after a few months so it can be an expensive time for hardware upgrades!
