Shouldn't have said that should I. Fired up the new WoW patch and had a quick play in the old Firelands raid, and watched the frame rate drop to 12fps, and that isn't on highest settings. Time for me to drop some image quality or look for a new card I'm sure Blizzard were part of the Vulkan consortium too, but no sign of that in the client yet. And yes there is a separate image quality tab for being in a raid, but as an old raid there was only the two of us.
I'm happy with my GTX 970, but out of the two, I'd go for the RX480. I know it is slightly slower, but I do like having the option to get a second card in the future. And that's my only reason :-)
Since i have MSI R9 390X ill be skipping this time around =)
but if i have to buy between the two.. ill choose/buy the RX480 in a heart beat
* Way Cheaper.. a Custom RX480 have $20 to $30 difference then a custom 1060
* Love FreeSync.. again its Cheaper and free while Gsync add additional cost to your Monitor
* Crossfire enable.. Future proof! RX480 will get cheaper in the future while 1060 dont support SLI
* Better Vulkan/DX12 performance.. Future Proof API
* AMD Open source.. Nvidia not so much
* AMD Better Business practice.. cough! GTX970 Ram..
GTX 1060 as in the UK at least they cost around the same as the RX 480. That's assuming you can get hold of any as stock is non-existent of the normal priced cards.
The 8GB RX 480 and GTX 1060 are close in price, the 4GB is significantly cheaper and a much more appealing option for the price. Although the RX 480 isn't that easy to find in stock at a decent price either, you can just about find a reference card but good luck finding an RX 480 AIB card in stock at ~£200 (4GB) or ~£240 (8GB).
I like to get a RX 480 4GB model but nobody has any and one that out there just bunch of a wipes price gouging the card

Neither as happy with what I have a) price I paid b) performance on all aspects.
But if I was in the market and they were my 2 choices only, then RX 480 custom PCB, a) ref PCB power sourcing poor IMO so custom PCB is my choice b) would prefer the aftermarket cooler on cards. At present XFX RX 480 DD Edition be my 1st choice.

Currently attempting to wait out for a custom RX 480 just due to how cheap freesync monitors are. However since 1060's are around the same price and seem to be easier to get hold of, I'll probably opt for one of those.
Installed my RX480 Nitro+ OC 8gb last night

Bagnaj, did you struggle getting ahold of your Nitro? I was looking for one but everywhere seems to be out of stock, lol. Need an upgrade from my 650 ti. Really like the look of it, would fit well with my colour scheme.
480 for me if and when I can get it.
