My main TV is from 2008 - Toshiba 42Z3030DB. Still going strong and I'm glad I didn't take out the rip off extended warranty.
Sony KDL-46W905A - Easily best TV I have owned for picture quality (and I've owned Plasma's, LCD & LED). Excellent screen uniformity, black levels, colours, motion handling and handles standaerd definition well. It's not perfect as it has narrow viewing angles and "Smart TV features" have been improved by newer models.
I dabbled with an LG OLED TV (950V)and although blacks and colours where awesome had to send it back as its motion handling was dreadful unless you left everything on Cinema settings e.g. blurry pans which is no good for sports.
I've still got a 42" Hanspree 1080p non-smart TV and everything looks great on it. My missus plays Xbox on it and has no complaints so no need to spend loads on a ridiculous priced UHD or whatever
Samsung UE50ju6800K and htpc + marantz 7.2.
Tv is awesome.
has 1bilion colours.
Mine comes in one colour - Grey.
I have a Ferguson (remember when they made tv's) tube tv (remember when tv's had a tube). It's sorta widescreen about 24 inch with speakers on the side and it's not connected to anything other than the built in dvd player. Oh it has a curved screen, just not the way most of you want it curved.
It's over 10 years old and hasn't been used for more than 4. We're not sure what to put in that corner of the room if we get rid of it. We've totally cut the cord, everything we watch is online. Other than sport (Olympics, World Cup finals and the Six Nations) I don't miss having a tv at all.
Just a cheap AOC 32" led HD TV.
A Samsung 32" FullHD 3D LED TV;
Another Samsung 32" FullHD LED TV.
For PC, I am using Dell 24" FUllHD Monitor.
TVs are comparably costlier here in India.
My next purchase would be >= 40" LED TV (may or may not be 4K depending on costs and content).
Lg 49uf850v would love the 860 for hdr, however this set does me very well. 3d is good. Little to no crosstalk. 4k upscaling is surprisingly good. (Ps4 looks very crisp) and the smart features are fast. Only complaint is the remote, sometimes doesnt register button presses. Other than that, fantastic tv. Will buy LG again i think.
Samsung 50" 4K. Great picture plus plenty of connection options
~8 year old Sony budget LCD. Its 1080p and the pictures ok for an old LCD so apart from power saving and making it thinner no real reason to replace... (plus my 2 year daughter will probably trash it at some point throwing something at the screen.)
Panasonic Viera 50" plasma (2013 TX-P50GT60B IIRC).
Rarely use the "Smart" or 3D features as I have a FireTV running off my NAS and Netflix/catch-up for the rest. The picture quality/colour is superb, everything looks so washed out and grainy in comparison when I go to anyone's house. Going to hold out a few more years then get the best 60/65" 4K I can afford. But I'm more than satisfied for the time being.
Samsung 48" 4K; wonderful picture, smart functionality is good, sound's a bit weedy, so have a speaker bar for it.
50" Panasonic plasma TH-50PZ70B circa 2006/7 I think. Colours starting to fade a little, but I still think it's picture is pretty good. It wasn't top of the range back then, but at as I recall in the order of £1200, has actually been really quite good value. Bluerays and some Netflix movies can look stunning, helped by the Onkyo/Kef sound system.
Samsung 48" 6400. Great value when I bought it, still compared to prices today. HD picture is better than non HD, however noticeably poorer picture & colours compared to higher priced models.
Sound is poor, and there are menu design UI issues which should be addressed. There are plenty of ports which are all reasonably accessible. Overall I'm happy with my choice, but had money not be a factor, then I probably would have chosen a different model.
I too used to have a Panasonic Plasma 42" 1080i only, finally replaced it with a Panasonic LED (think it's AMVA) panel at 50" as I wanted to wall mount it and that plasma would have brought the house down. The 50" unit is actually smaller in size than the 42" due to the insanely large borders TVs used to have.
It was reasonably priced (unlike the Plasma) as a stop-gap until OLED 4K became an acceptable price - clearly that was going to be years off, turns out it was only a year off. Which is rather irritating. Still, I'll keep this unit for 5 years and hopefully there will be some nice OLED HDR TVs by then.
