i7 4770k - might go for Zen/Kaby Lake if money permits
Society's to blame,
Or possibly Atari.
hahahah. One (main) rig running i5 6600k and *gulp* an ancient rig running an E8500 OC'd to 3.8 since about '08. To be honest, for day to day tasks the E8500 doesn't hold me back too much. I'm sure it will eventually go to the great CPU graveyard in the sky, but it was the first PC I ever built and have been loathe to get rid of it (when I could). Others have come and gone in the meantime, but this thing with it's 8Gb of DDR2 and a HD5770 keeps on chugging along faithfully.
i7 920 OC at 3.6Ghz.
i7 5930K
I only wanted this chip for SLi with 2x16 lanes so kind'a was forced up from the cooler running CPU's
I tend to upgrade more for the ancillary architecture advance more that the CPU it's self. M.2, SATA6 (what that was new) new versions of USB.. that sort of thing.
Can't recall the last time I moved because the CPU felt slow.. been the rest since Core CPU's started really
i5 2500k @ 3.4ghz (stock atm)
I've had this CPU since 2011 and it's still viable.
I know that if I'm lagging behind or need a little more power, I can always OC to 4.5ghz and remain stable. I wouldn't mind an upgrade but at this point I'd also need to upgrade my motherboard because it's not suitable for IVY bridge CPUs.
i5 2500k@4.5ghz watercooled with Kingston aniversary @2133 CL9. No need to upgrade. I am still waiting for ZEN to see what I will do next.
i5 3570K@ 4.6Ghz
still i5-2500k. Not oced it yet as haven't needed too.

My main/gaming PC – an Intel Core i5-3350P 3.1GHz (since 28/06/13), along with an GTX970 & 16GB of ram does fine for video editing and games. Media PC – an AMD Athlon II X2 240 2.8GHz (since 09/04/10) and it's more than plenty for the job.
AMD FX 8320.
Hoping to have the job security and finances to upgrade to Zen in early 2017, assuming that Zen lives up to the hype and isn't another big AMD letdown.
