On another forum, there have been many complaints about Scan customer service during the two years I have been a member.

Really dislike the new layout. Its more form than fuction. Prefer the old way of selecting parts in the menu. Also the search seems to only accept exact matches for me. New colours and icons yes, but old layout please. Or atleast the option.

yeah, having experienced scam`s "customer service" first-hand i can say that i wouldn`t buy anything from them if they were the last tech shop on the planet.

I much prefer the old site too, this new version looks pretty, but seems alot harder to browse and select the products I would be interested in.

Re: Scan Computers launches new website

    Holy god they needed it...

The old site was an absolutely atrocious mess of biblical proportions. If I ever wanted to point to an example of horrible design scan.co.uk was my go to website. Its literally the only site ive used where the search function was pretty much mandatory to find things, the big blocks of tickboxes etc were just horrid.

overclockers.co.uk had a fantastic layout, their new site isnt quite as good as the old one but its still usable.

EDIT: Forget everything I said. The new sites still a mess, it just looks prettier. I select GPU-> AMD (horrid tickboxes still present) RX470 and RX480 and it shows me a huge list starting with Firepros. Good job scan.

Too much thin for my liking. Thin fonts. Thin lines. Struggling with lack of contrast for white text on pale colour backgrounds.

Re: Scan Computers launches new website

I agree with some of the above, Really dislike the new layout, Since these changes I've bought less items from scan. I use to love the Today only page, but now thats just bad compared to other sites. Last layout was logical and you knew where everything was quickly. The tickbox & Fonts on the select product screen are too small and on a larger monitor they look even smaller. I still like Scan.co.uk over other websites for its prices & customer service, as a long time customer they are still one of the best out there.

Re: Scan Computers launches new website

Glad it's not just me! Trying to look at SSDs: fragmented top menu, so choose, OK storage is easy but can't look at other groups just in case, SSDs, OK, type of SSD, OK, select manufacturers, OK, look at 1 item, flip back and the manufacturer filter is gone!
It's worse than Screwfix's site, where going well down a page, looking at an item then going back results in "Please wait while we update your selection" (why? my selection hasn't changed) and then goes to the top of the page!

In spite of agreeing with most of the criticisms above, I could easily use it if it weren't so dumb.
Thanks for bringing up this subject - I'd been wondering where to have a moan. Scan seems to have dropped its basic forum (I wonder why) and has only after-sales now.

Re: Scan Computers launches new website

It's more difficult to use than the old one, the filters seem hidden by default, and are just as bad as before. I just want to be able to refine my search, say hard drives by capacity, or motherboards by number of SATA ports etc.

Slapping a mediocre redesign on top oflargely unchanged, poorly executed backend code isn't really a "new website".

Sorry guys, will still buy off you but you haven't made it any easier or more enjoyable

Re: Scan Computers launches new website

To me it just looks like a new skin. Underneath (as people have pointed out above) you still get the same horrid, confusing checkboxes. Finding SSD's was a great example.

Also. I just typed in "850 Evo" into search. Nothing. Did this 3 times to be sure.
I went and found all the 850's (took a few minutes). They are there.
Tried the same search again "850 Evo". Now it works.

I've seen the above search issues before so knew what to test first. Can't trust it.

Re: Scan Computers launches new website

I went to the site the other day and thought I'd gone to the wrong place. The old site worked, I like to be able to select what I wanted from the top menu easily and it made sense.

I was looking for a monitor, so I thought 'Sound/Vision' was the obvious heading but no they are under 'Peripherals' instead. How the hell can a monitor not be 'Vision'?

    Not impressed.

Re: Scan Computers launches new website

I use Scan quite a bit (thanks to Hexus carriage deal) but agree about Today Only changes - that was a disaster. I used to check it daily and often make use of the deals. Now, I can't recall when I last checked it or bought from that page - it seemed to become confusing and lacking in useful products. That has meant Amazon have got a lot of business that used to go to Scan. We'll see how the new site affects things, but from what folks are saying, it doesn't bode well.

Re: Scan Computers launches new website

Another problem is the lack of proper 'list view' now. We have 'big icons', 'medium icons', and 'medium icons (in a list)'. All I want is a list of the drives (or whatever) with basic information and the price is as condensed a page as possible.

I am dreading how this new site will work on a tablet or a smaller screen laptop now.
