My profile I clean forgot to update when I moved in with the better half!
Specs are fairly average to be fair - but we shall see what bloatware etc. is included

Please don't say that.... I don't think I could cope with that. I have at least got her looking away from Ford (and their seemingly never ending stream of inferno related recalls) for her next car. Just out of interest, do you happen to know if there's a specific mileage that expensive parts tend to go pop at? That said the way she drives it and the way I drive it are totally at odds - she hardly ever goes over the 2K RPM threshold to get the turbo working whereas me, with my advanced motorcycle training (I only drive a car if I absolutely have to as and when required and did advanced riding before I learnt to drive so my driving "style" is taken from riding rather than the other way round - it amused my driving instructor), want all the power available all the time so always have the turbo spun up. She's cruising at 30mph in 5th sipping at petrol whilst I'm in third immediately ready to join in any passing police chases... it's safe to say her car will last a lot longer in her hands.

Ecoboost engines need to be used harder than that. They don't like cheap fuel and being driven like she is as they can suffer from melting pistons. I'm a Ford fan however and if she's putting in decent petrol she should be fine, but she'll need to give it some beans sometimes as above else the cat will get knackered driving like that
If you think Ford are bad for recalls you should see some other manufacturers stats. Audi for example are awful currently, and as a nice side effect they have the worst dealers according to most surveys

Though also they only combust whilst charging, so won't be in your pocket

I wouldn't... when grenades pop they're designed to kill i.e. they fling bits of metal and other sh*t that is shaped to cause huge trauma. Phone batteries lack the shrapnel effect to the same extent and also tend to have a slower burn/explosion - not a uniform detonation of materials. I see what you're saying though and either way, I don't want to be anywhere near one when it goes bang.
They did, with a laptop battery (and so did Boeing with the 787 standby battery) - I mentioned Samsung because it was a phone with reltively little protection for the battery or containment should a problem occur.
(<honesty_mode>And because it was an easy target and a cheap shot </a>)

soon you will see a SCANIA phone
Having something with as many combustible things travelling along is bound to be a ticking timebomb. But the ecoboosts don't burst into flames, they slowly melt the pistons and then it's game over. Her driving style is actually more likely to cause this than yours so go figure. It's the putting the car into a high gear early and at low revs that will cause it

Lower quality fuel say from a supermarket and not driven hard seems to cause some carbon build ups around the valves etc. you then get pinking or pre-detonation when you do drive it a bit harder and boom no pistons. Throw in a pretty poor water pump and a tendency for the hoses to give way in the cooling system and there ya go
