Sounds like a win win, increasing production efficiency and performance. With the developments in SSD i dont know why HDD technologies are still being developed to be honest; seems like only a matter of time until their only advantage, capacity, is superseded by SDDs.

I kind of disagree on that. I got a pile of HDDs sitting in a shelf after dying. 24x7 operation kills consumer disks. They start to die between year 2 and 3. Some last longer. I still have to have an SSD to die on me.
I suppose that all depends on the use that you do of the devices and the housekeeping that you apply.
