Re: QOTW: Which CPU are you using?

    AMD FX-8350.

While technically it does do what I want it to, that's partly because I've avoided actually trying new things that might push it, due to the knowledge that it can easily push the temperatures up - to a point I'd prefer not to risk it - and that some things seem to be slower at times than in the past already.

Looking to move to Zen 2 when (or shortly after) it is released, and I imagine it will feel like a huge jump and breath of fresh air.

    2500K @ 4.2GHz

I've not bought a new game since about 2015, I don't have the motivation to game much these days, and the games that I still play tend to be older and run really well on the 2500K. Other than gaming, nothing else really needs the processing power so I'll be happy staying with the 2500K for a while longer!

    6 Core Xeon E5 1660 v2 @ 4.7GHz on a Rampage IV Gene with Corsair Dominator GT 1866 C9 4x8GB
    8 Core Xeon E5 1680 v2 @ 4.5GHz on a Rampage IV Extreme with Corsair Dominator 2133 C9 8x8GB
Both setups lets me play PUBG in 4K 120% Screen Scale, Max AA & Draw Distance with ther rest on medium powered by 2080 Ti's and hit 110-120fps, stays at 120fps 90% of the time. I'm good as it is, but I'm tempted to get a 9700k, Rampage XI Gene and 2xGB sticks of 4800 G.Skill Royal to see if there's a lot to go gain but I'm in not immediate rush and can wait to see what Zen2 offers.

Re: QOTW: Which CPU are you using?

I don't game , or haven't for years , no time for it. I'm still using a Phenom 11 x4 965 BE , was my last upgrade , coupled with a Radeon 5770 ,Asus board and 12GB DDR3 1600. Even this is overkill for what I use the PC for , MS Publisher , Word , Paintshop Pro7 and of course the internet. Doe's all those fast with no sweat , even more so since upgrading HD's to SSd's. Ihave no real need to upgrade but I just fancy a change and am set on getting a Ryzen 5 2600 coupled with an MSI B450 Carbon Pro MB just for the heck of it. I've been holding off hoping
as with the new Ryzens chips and 570 boards due that prices will drop further and make an upgrade more financially viable. The other reason for holding off was the scandalous price of DDR4 which thankfully is starting to become more sensible unless you want a christmas tree on top of it. Speaking of which , RGB's built into SDD's , lol. Watched an article from Jay2cents where the leds on the SDD were making it overheat and causing system crashes.

QOTW: Which CPU are you using?

And is it doing everything you need, or is an upgrade in the offing?
    Amd Ryzen 7 1700

    Doing everything i need: yes
Upgrade in the offing: Somewhat yes*

*I don't need an upgrade, but the last AMD bulldozer system in the house is my old desktop that i'm using as an occaisional server... Swapping that to Ryzen would give noticeable power savings.

My current system also has a failing onboard soundcard... Upgrade to a new mobo + CPU gives me an upgrade, that whilst i don't need would be appreciated... My old CPU can upgrade my brother's R3 ryzen CPU, and my damaged mobo and the R3 CPU can make for a more power efficient server PC...

My brother is lucky, I don't think he's ever spent money on PC components outside of peripherals... it's all offcasts of mine

Re: QOTW: Which CPU are you using?

Ryzen 2200G. I didn't intend to overclock, but notice my Asus motherboard has applied a mild one at 3.85Ghz so left it like that.

I bought it to prove it was my 2600X that was failing, sent the 2600X back which got refunded rather than replaced and so for now I just kept the 2200G.

It doesn't quite do everything I want, it struggles with Elite Dangerous in VR so I have been playing it on a standard screen. When Zen 2 comes out, I intend spending my refund on something with at least 2600X performance.

    6700K. not OC'd and purchased in 2015.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
