Replacing a 10 year old shuttle. Was going to go for a newer one then realised MB etc has limitations and now looking at SFF cases, Mini ITX MB etc so future upgrades will be just the MB and CPU or GPU when required.

In the next few months i will be replacing my ageing 3570k.
Going to be Ryzen on a X570 board, new ram and a NVMe or 2.
If big Navi makes an appearence by the end of the year i may replace my RX580 as well.

Wow, that name is a blast from the past!

Used to have a Shuttle PC in the AMD K6-2 era, was great for LAN parties as so easy to transport

I've still got a Shuttle in my parts box, works but drivers were an issue with Win7 so its not been powered up in an age...
Wonder what Win10 might make of it...

Re: QOTW: Which PC components are you looking to upgrade in 2020?

I'm looking to do a complete system either at the very end of this year or early 2021, depending on how the Ryzen 4000 release goes, as I'd like to at least wait until any BIOS issues are sorted, so I'd prefer to allow around a couple of months after AMD release them. I'm also watching how the NVidia RTX 3000 will go, and whether performance per £ is any better (my ideal fantasy would be 2060Super performance at 1660 Super prices.... ), but I guess I'll have to see what AMD releases too, perhaps a 5800/5800XT might move into the pricing place occupied by the 5700/5700XT currently, pushing them down a tier... one can only dream! I'm definitely wanting to play Cyberpunk 2077, but I'll be happy to wait a bit longer so that I can play it on decent settings smoothly.

If I do manage to afford an upgrade this year it will be a Ryzen, at least 8 cores. Right now Intel doesn't have anything that looks a good balance of price/performance for me.

Similarly I'm not seeing anything that looks like good enough value for money to justify replacing my GTX980Ti right now. The RTX cards in particular feel *way* over-priced, especially for driving a 1080p monitor
Very happy with my 2600 and don't feel the need for 8 cores over the 6. However a decent nvme ssd makes more of a difference to me.
Old puter - still good enuff till I save some pennies!

Re: QOTW: Which PC components are you looking to upgrade in 2020?

I want to upgrade now. My 3570k is starting to feel really old. I've been discussing with the wife (as money is tight) and I'll probably upgrade later in the year (maybe a 4000 series Ryzen). I am however interested in an next gen xbox as I'm loving game pass so that might be a better buy for me? (but I'd hate to be without a PC and it is getting to falling components age now)
    Trust

    Laptop : Dell Inspiron 1545 with Ryzen 5500u, 16gb and 256 NVMe, Windows 11.

need a new headset, but may opt to go for something with bluetooth to link up to my TV for late night viewing without disturbing the family.
