Hehe yeah decrepit viking might be better, though i am a nice guy too ( im told )
Had they put me in the new assassins creed vikings game, it would take you a half year to complete the single player if you played with my character.

Its a damn thing my brain still think i am in the mid - late 20ties, but my actual age are 53, and my body are well past 60, which is also why i have been retired for 3 years already.
I should not do this kind of work, but i just cant say stop, and besides as long as i dont have to go into my morphine pain killers i am good, though some times i have to do that just cuz i have slept bad.
But since i got on a pension it is as if things have gotten better, only once in 3 years have i had to result to morphine, and that was almost a monthly thing when i was working.

Regular pain killers, i do eat as tic tacs, if i have not eaten any in a week it have been a very good but sadly rare week.

It is mentally painful to see that what i do now with difficulty in 5 hours, i would do in 1 hour 20 years ago, and have plenty of surplus for something else later on or the next day.
Once we put a new gearbox on a land rover parked at the curb, as i recall it weigh in at +200 KG, but that was no problem me and another guy lifted the thing and my friend guided it in place.

Most of these machines are horribly expensive, but have you seen the Ideapads?

Re: AMD launches its Ryzen Pro 4000 series mobile processors

yeah i am keeping my eyes open for lenovo too, so far only one HP machine with the 4500U are listed here, not even the Acer that are / have been selling elsewhere.
The larger machines 4700U ( Asus ) are also listed here but also not in stock, besides also way too expensive for me.

I am sort of hoping the new machines will push the older 3500U machines down in price, their performance are also plenty for my internet surfing need, and maybe stitch a few seconds of 1080p video together now and then.
But the geek in me are still targeting a machine with power's i dont really need, just like my PC, i just must overkill.

Idle and low load power consumption will be better on the newer AMD APUs IIRC. But the Ryzen 5 3500U is still solid especially if you get one of the laptops which has an RX560X too.

Re: AMD launches its Ryzen Pro 4000 series mobile processors

I am just going to use the laptop on my desktop, so battery performance dont bother me one bit.
#1 is get a machine so i can tear this lian li case apart to get to my hardware so i can build on PC casemod project.
#2 not really a need to have the TR monster going for the bulk of work i do daily, so dropping from 180 W idel to 65 or lower will do some kind of wonder with the almost record setting Danish prices for power.
Not least since my PC are on for something like 10 hours daily

My only fear is i have come to like my 27" screen a lot after having been on a 22" CRT for a decade, but i am sure i can adjust to the smaller laptop screen, and its not like my eyes are that bad yet.

Run the screen off the laptop?? But low and low load power consumption being better, does actually mean lower energy bills though. Some of the Zen 2000/3000 mobile APUs did have a low load bug,so power consumption was higher than it should have been.

Re: AMD launches its Ryzen Pro 4000 series mobile processors

I have been thinking that since it is also just a 1080p screen, but i think i will just start with the raw laptop to see how i get on with it.
But for sure a option i have at the back of my mind.

Only laptop i have ever tried using is my little sister's, and as i recall it is a dual core semperon machine, ask it to play a H.265 encoded 1080p video and it throw in the towel and shout down
i have also only once touched a apple product, some years ago on x mas evening my niece asked me to take a picture of her and her siblings + mother with her fruit phone, today so many baths later i still feel dirty

Perhaps an Asrock A300 with a 3200G APU in it would do you instead then, plugged into your existing 27" monitor.

Yeah i have been thinking along those lines too, for sure not a idea i will brush off the table.
Come July 1 i will probably have to pull the trigger om something, though with a means to get online i suddenly are in no rush to complete my casemod and so i might have to edit my computer specs in here as it say case finished summer 2020.

Downside is i also got to have my car inspected ( MOT ) within the next month, and before that a service on it to make sure there are no hidden surprises ( 2012 car )
And i also have my case project for the PC, but at least i cant really go much further with that before i have a replacement for the hardware ( a laptop )

Lot of work for this summer, only problem is 3-4 hours of very casual work with a chain saw have left me still sore in the legs and back 2 days after the work.
And i have more trees to cut up, a lot of dirt to shovel, and a few tonnes of stones ASO i have to move / arrange too for a off road "track" for scale 4x4 trucks.
A wall to tear down , a floor to waterproof, walls and sealing to insulate, a G-scale railroad to build in a field, redoing some masonry on a whole house, and that's just the stuff i know now i have to do / help with.

Would be so nice if one was a A - hole that say no to friends and family,,,,, but i am not that kind of person.

i am too old for this sh,,,,, stuff.
Check your MOT date - https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history
Mine was due at the end of April but because of the current pandemic Its now not due until the middle of October :-)
